Big win this week at the Shorite Classic, her 2nd in her last 3 starts, moves her up to 3rd in the World rankings, now the highest ranked American.

 

She's already a major winner and has overcome a serious spinal condition to get where she is now. Is it just because she doesn't model bikinis that she gets virtually no press at all? I couldn't find a thread on this latest event even (maybe I'm just bad at searching) which she won by 4 shots. All the big names were playing and she walked it.

 

Bonus points (for me at least) for playing Mizuno - including a JPX800 driver!!

I haven't a clue where all the buzz for her is. She had a good year last year and is killing it this year. Maybe a little too much Vanilla/Luke Donald syndrome going on? Whatever it is, people need to wake up. This girl's got serious game.

Stacy is flying under the radar and if she continues to win, could challenge Yani for the No. 1. Stacy has already beaten Yani in a major, so she might not be intimidated by Yani.

I got her autograph at the Sybase a few weeks ago.

She's for real, and she is down to earth and friendly.

And she had a lot of fans following and cheering her on, although she did lose in the quarterfinals.

She seems too grounded to get caught up in the LPGA diva syndrome, and she's good and she has fans.

I like her chances a lot

Don't know. But I hope other LPGA players start challenging Yani to loosen up the LPGA.

Strikes me as the American female Monty. Seems to always be down, pouting, frowning, whatever. Interviews like a burlap sack. But maybe it's just me.

I don't pull against her or anything, but not one of my favorites. And T&A got nothing to do with it...

The most popular player on the LPGA....and by popular I mean most far reaching appeal within both the golf and non-golf community.....is natalie gulbis......maybe michelle wie or paula creamer can compete....a little.....quite a bit within the golf community.....

I think that's all you need to know to understand why Stacey doesn't get much love.....I mean look how little love Yani Tseng gets!!!! Sure, all of us here can appreciate just how amazing yani is....but in the grand scheme of things? If she were a guy on the PGA.....there'd be hella buzz.....the same would probably apply if she was a hot blonde....

i think Stacey has a ton of game, great swing, interesting back story and is kinda cute.....but if we're being honest with ourselves....i think we all know why there's gonna be little to no love.....

So if Aza (one of my favs) say won 3-5 times per year and won 3 majors in the next 3 years could she de-throne Nats and Paula in popularity?

I think Belen could because of her personality....but she's got a long way to go in improving her game for consideration right now.

I'm glad Aza has proven me wrong....although 2010 ROY....always thought she'd only be a mid ranked pro...at this point hoping she continues to play well and consistent to get into the top 10 Rolex rankings.
She's kinda like an early Annika (94-95)....never had the self belief to play well on tour and both were shy when they joined the tour.

Although a baseball term....Aza hit for the 'cycle' in her last 4 events.....2,4,1,3.

I asked Aza for her auto in 2010 and she looked to me like...you really want my auto.
I was watching the final rd coming down the stretch on Sunday in Portland...they didn't make the cut......on 14...guess who walks up and stands beside me...Aza, Belen and her brother (Belen had a sponsor exemption) to watch the golf. I said hi.....but no one else knew who they were or acknowledged them....they were not wearing golf gear.

Is Gulbis really that popular? I certainly consider Creamer to much more be the face of the U.S. contingent on the LPGA despite her mediocre play as of late. Creamer certainly gets more face time.

Guess that says a lot about Lewis though that even after a win she can't stay the topic of discussion in her own thread =p

She's been injured a lot dating back to last year. And I just read a story that he grandfather had been ill and passed away in March. I'm sure her play was affected by a few factors. Not that I'm biased or anything...

Monty can get pretty loud and emotional on the course. Especially in Ryder Cup matches. Or when blowing a major at Winged Foot(?) or under shock from Tiger's first Masters win.
