We’ll come clean up front on this one: most of us here aren’t golfers. We can admire the skill it takes to drive a miniscule white ball off a tee onto a green over the horizon, but the game simply doesn’t raise our pulse rates.

 

In fact, most of us would quickly be kicked off the links for trading paint in golf carts, or for re-wiring the electric motors to make the carts faster. Still, when we see a press release that Ferrari is teaming up on a line of golf equipment, we take notice.

 

The newly-announced Ferrari Golf Collection was developed in collaboration with Ferrari and Cobra Puma Golf, and includes everything from clubs to footwear and accessories. While many items are simply branded with the prancing horse logo, Ferrari spent quite a bit of time refining the Cobra Ferrari Driver.

 

The club’s shape is the result of input from Ferrari’s aerodynamic engineers, who made changes to reduce drag as the club is swung through the air. The net result is a higher club head speed, and even we know that higher speed is a good thing.

 

Tom Preece, vice president of R&D at Cobra Puma Golf called the new driver a “work of art,” complimenting not just the club’s shape but its hand-stitched leather grip, its Ferrari leather head cover and its Fujikura Motore Speeder Shaft.

 

Ferrari isn’t the first supercar manufacturer to contribute to the development of better golf clubs, either. Lamborghini has already paired with Callaway Golf on the development of Forged Composite materials which can be used to make both cars and golf clubs lighter and faster.

I also quite like these but at the rate I go through gloves it would surely be too expensive to keep up!

I think it's absurd as well. Stick to making cars. Leave the gear up to Adidas, Nike, etc.

Puma has had a long history with Ferrari. They have supplied all of their racing gear for a while so I think this is probably just an extension of that.

Puma has had sneakers and other apparel with Ferrari branding for quite some time now.
They are the official supplier for the Ferrari Formula One Team.

And it was Porsche Design that did a collaboration with Taylormade a couple of years back, not the Porsche AG, which produces the cars.
Porsche Design have a long-standing collaboration with adidas.

Haven't seen anything about pricing, but the ferrari puma clothing/shoes are not out of this world. Porsche and BMW gear on the other hand has always been very high across the board.

I really like their Ferrari/Puma stuff outside of golf, and I have a few of their clothing products and shoes.

[b][i][u]However[/u][/i][/b], it looks as if I will not be purchasing any of their golf line. In my opinion, their products of the Ferrari line outside of golf are better than the products they show on the site provided. Not a big fan so far...

An additional thing, sorry to threadjack, but am I the only one that dislikes Puma on the golf course, but loves them off the golf course? I'm not the biggest fan of their golf line (shoes/apparel/etc.)

Cobra Golf engineers spend days, weeks, months and years testing and developing golf equipment. Then a car company makes changes to the driver to decrease drag and optimize aerodynamics and swing speed?

Can't wait to see a price on a Limited release Cobra ZL driver with a Ferrari Red paint job, Motore Speeder shaft and Gripmaster leather grip. They will be giving sets of sticks away with the cars probably.

Does Porsche have a deal with anyone? Porsche is prestigious and refined enough that the only company I could see the teamed with would be Titleist. Only problem being you can't fit golf clubs in a 911, unless they're your passenger.
