Well since the USGA hasn't handled the problem already, I'm taking things into my own hands.

 

As of now, I am gonna be hitting up all the future PGA events and I'm gonna bring a high powered airsoft sniper rifle with me. So when you start yelling, I will pull the trigger and leave a welt on your face. Maybe that will get you to shut up? So the next time you think about yelling " mahed pototoes" "sausage" "light the candle" or anything else that pisses me off, enjoy the 6 mm BB that will hit you hard. I'm sick of it, and it needs to stop. Totally classless, and totally takes away from the sport.

I can promise you that if I ever attend a PGA Tour Event, I will be silent as a mouse with no cell phones or cameras... during the players swing. I think it is UNBELIEVABLE what some of these pros do with golf balls and if I happened to yell "BRACES AND ACES" after Beau Hossler tees off on a par 5 so be it.

I obviously can't speak for other people, but it completely destroys any enjoyment of watching a tournament for me.

I can understand people yelling RELEVANT stuff on important shots, IE: When someone has a putt to take the lead for example, but what is the point in yelling Badger's (hopefully someone gets the reference) catchphrase after a teeshot?!

I don't see a lot of American coverage/commentary, but the UK commentary teams are getting sick of it, mentioning how annoying these idiots are at least once a day.

Anyone that thinks it's funny or cool and would like to give it a shot, sure come to The Open next month. See how long you last on the course after opening your mouth

I can't stand the people yelling after every shot, but I have to disagree about having music during the round. My my normal group of 12-16 guys at my CC are a bit more laid back, but I very much enjoy having a little music going while we are walking in our normal skins game. Though i think a lot of people on here probably belong to clubs that are a bit more uptight than my club is, and certainly my normal group (no, not all young kids...i'm youngest at 29 and several play from the senior tees). We're just a very laid back crew so the music doesn't bother anyone.

As for a fix to the people yelling, I think a well placed BB from a slingshot will do the trick.
