Ryder Cup Rainwear

I' m in the market to upgrade my rain jacket for this fall and was wondering what you like and if anyone knew what the U. S. and Euro. teams where preparing to wear.

Well I bet the US won't be looking at Sun Mountain again....

I have no idea though, but I recommend just taking a look at Zero Restriction. It's pricey especially the Gore-Tex stuff, but it is very worth it IMO. I have a rain suit by them with the Gore-Tex paclite material. I have walked many 18s in the rain with this stuff on. Very waterproof and almost more importantly it is breathable. Also, it folds up pretty small and weighs little.

The Euros probably wear Galvin Green. Expensive, but reportedly the best? There are many threads about GG in this forum.

The Euro team was wearing ProQuip at the 2010 Ryder Cup, and eventually also the US Team

Pro Quip has outfitted a number of past euro teams. I saw online they are the supplier for the 2012 team as well. I have a jacket and it is great. Can't go wrong with zero though, that is my favorite.

US is wearing Polo RLX clothes. I'd imagine they will be wearing their rain gear as well.

PROQUIP is what the Euro's have worn a few times.

Nike and Adidas both make good suits for a good price. I have a Zero that is older and jacket has seen better days...but they are a great brand, can be had on sale, and were made in US at one point.

I went to the ralph Lauren site a couple weeks ago after seeing this thread and saw the Ryder apparel. Loved it but too expensive. Especially the jackets. I went back today because they are having a sale and their Ryder cup stuff is no longer on there. Anybody know why?

Weird. It has disappeared from the Ralph Lauren web site completely. Almost like they are no longer the sponsor. The official Ryder Cup web site has Sunice rain gear. A nice looking jacket but $340. Ouch!

I use Nike's Storm-Fit Elite, the 2011 model, not the 2012 model. And I am very impressed by how breathable it is to my old rain gear which just kept the sweat in, which I sometimes mistook for leaky gear. It's very expensive, but very good.

Zero Restriction is the best money can buy. Not cheap, but well worth it because most others fall apart. I've had mine for over ten years, and wife's set is eight years old. I even wear the tour jacket when I am in the mountains during winter. I have 3 different covers that match the pants, plus a number of other Zero Restriction covers. They last for ever; good investments.

I have to admit that after going the cheap route one too many times the Zero stuff is worth the $. Plus the fit was the best.

ralph lauren is not as far as i can tell the clothier for the us, I have been through every press release for the last two years and while they have a release about the Olympics there is nothing about the Ryder Cup... There is a release about the "Open" (British) but nothing regarding the Ryder Cup!!!!!
