G15 irons have just been reshafted

Amazing! I have had my G15 irons for over 2 years and had the standard AWT steel shafts in them. My Cleveland wedges had KBS Tour 90 shafts in them so I thought i would reshaft my irons and my K15 Hybrid with the same shafts.

 

The performance is amazing! The irons are litetrally point and shoot. The ball flight is similar to the AWT but reallt bores through the wind and just does not deviate from target. They are lighter shafts than the AWT and the distance gained i would estimate would be half a club more. We have a Par 3 at my course which is 125 meters. I use to hit an easy 9 iron - now i can hit a wedge, easily no extra effort.

 

My par 3 play since i reshafted 9 rounds ago has improved incredibly, hitting 4 out of 5 greens a round eveery round and the miss is either too much or not enough club!!

 

So i would definately recommend the G15 irons players out there that if they are looking to reshaft, try the KBS Tour 90, great shaft that seems to maych the G15 really well!!

How is the ball flight? I thought about doing this but was hesitant given that the wide sole of the g15s provide high launch and the tour 90s are mid to high launch shafts.

my G15 became different clubs once they got reshafted with KBS. the AWT just never worked for me.

I was going to start a thread about this. I got fitted for a set of G15s with AWT shafts this spring and have lost a good bit of distance from last year. Even though my handicap has dropped 3 points (mostly due to my chipping; I just love those Ping irons for that part of my game!) I am not totally happy with this set up. Question: how much would it cost me to have my eight G15s re-shafted to the KBS?

Last year my 150 yard club was a 9 iron; this year it's an 8 or even a choked-down 7. Like I said, my scores are actually lower and more consistent, but my driving and putting has also improved, but we all need something to complain about and provide us with excuses for when we're not playing well!

What is your 5/6 iron swing speed? To hit your G15 9-iron 150 yards would require a good 90 mph swing speed, or some serious delofting of the iron.

I was fitted at Golf Headquarters on New Years Eve and hadn't played for 3 months (it's colder than hell in Iowa that time of year!). I brought my 6 iron, a twelve year old Callaway knockoff that I used as my 180 yard club. I hit twenty balls with it to warm up and the average was right at 180, which made me feel comfortable with the monitor. The fitter gave me a G15 7 iron but I don't know what shaft he had on it: my average with that club was just a hair over 180. Then I hit a ton of balls off the board and he fitted me with the AWT stiff, 1/2 inch short of standard with yellow dots.
When I was finally able to start hitting shags in April I must have hit fifty shanks and topped balls with them before I finally got the hang of them. After getting my confidence back I gradually learned to like the clubs and my scores have improved but I've always wondered what shaft I was hitting with that seven iron that were going so good.
They didn't have a clubhead speed indicator on their monitor but he said they usually figure seventy percent of the ball speed and that would have put me over one hundred mph with the driver. When I first hit the G15s in April of '11 I hit ones with a red graphite shaft on them and that's how I fell in love with those irons. However, the fitter told me that with my clubhead speed that I shouldn't have graphite shafts. I tend to be very aggressive on my downswing, and I've read that AWT shafts work good for smoother tempos, and I don't think I fit in that category! I don't want to do anything to screw up my game, which is better than it's ever been and I'm in my mid forties; I just want to hit my irons like I did last year. Thanks

I have a very fast and abrupt transition at the top, the fitter called it an aggressive attack on the ball. Avg 6I SS is 88, i was fitted with stiff AWT shafts. I love the whole setup, I'm able to make 3/4 swings and hit my 9I 140ish with 11-13 yard gaps in between clubs. Just my .02 since we have similar swings yet received different results. Good luck to ya
