Maltby TE FORGED, with whatever shaft you prefer. Taper or parallel.

This!! I'm looking to build this with NS Pro 950. Any review on these irons?

This. I love the look of this iron.

However, Titleist 695CB has little offset and not that forgiving for average player like me. But... I love the look.

Some of you said I should practice more and lower my handicap. That's impossible since I don't have enough time to play golf at the moment (just twice a month). When I buy something, I have to like the look of that club. Not just performance but the look too behind the ball. That's why Im asking if there is such iron with this look for mid handicap like me.

This might be the most discussed topic ever on these boards....to go forged or not to go forged.

Also probably the most misunderstood discussion on the internet :)

I am a mid-handicap golfer that needs to hit forged because of my elbows.
interesting- why is that? sorry for my ignorance!

ok, took the extra 30 seconds to google it- the softness is easier on the joints, it seems...

I put matrix studio graphite shafts in a set of the nike vrs forged and they replaced my diablo forged. They are easy on my shoulders and almost as long as the diablo but much more accurate.
I tried graphite shafts but I lost the feel for the club and released the club too quickly. Also I found the distance dispersion to be too large. The Nippon steel shafts in the Nike VRS forged are the first iron shafts I liked and felt comfortable with besides Dynamic Gold.

The Titleist 775 CB was mentioned, but I'm surprised the 804.OS was not... this is one of the most GI forged clubs I can think of, and I've seen 4-PW go as low as $100. If I were dead set on a forged GI on the cheap, the 775 CB and 804.OS would be the direction I looked. If you're looking to spend a little more and/or want something more modern, the TM TP CB is probably my dream club, but even at the closeout prices they're more than I'm willing to spend. Thanks goodness for components!

Wishon 560MC. Very eye pleasing and very forgiving on various misses like thin or toe misses. Ball still flies almost as far as a good hit and also stays on line. Saved me some strokes this year. Before I played Nike Pro Combo forged; very nice on on-center hits but you pay the price for the misses with ending up short and out of direction.
Plus you get the Wishon heads with every shaft you like and build to close tolerances by a good clubmaker.

lol.. . funny discussion.. try something with a smooth shaft and and something with a large sole... although, if you're a long and decent driver,( some high capper drive ball over 240yds easily, some over 260-270yrds), dont hesitate to play stiff flex...

lot of good choice were mentionned already. only thing I can add, it's the AMP forged from Cobra...

but honestly, for an higher capper like you. dont go longer than 5 or 6 iron. Play forged GI iron GW to 6iron. Get hybrid in 20-23 (24)-26 (27)...

Titleist, only AP2, nothing else... you would struggle way too much!

^ I started on S59's (this was 8 years ago, and I quickly quit playing after a few months), then last year I bought the clubs I always wanted, the 695's - used. (CB, though I did want the MB's). I also picked up the 710mb (used), and now game the J40's, but today I put the 695's back in my bag. They're more forgiving than the above mentioned irons and I can get 40% of the shots I envision in my head.

At a 15 HC should I play something different? Meh. I love a challenge and the 695's give me a great game after the mishits I can sometimes get on blades.

Would I recommend these to someone that actually wants to improve their game without practice? Not so much.

Had TM CB's and needed a little more help, traded for AP1's and they appear little more forgiving than TM CB's. I am wondering of anyone can say if they feel Diablo's are more or less forgiving than my AP1-710 or TM CB's?

Callaway Diablo Forged. They can be had for cheap on eBay, $300 new. Just picked up a set and couldn't be happier.
I just picked up a set of the Callaway Diablo forged irons too and I love them.

I too have trouble with my elbows hurting and have noticed that they haven't been as bad here lately but I don't know if it's because of the switch to forged irons. But hey, I'll try to convince my wife of that!

Check out Adams cb3's. I see golf galaxy has them at 599.99 now.
^This. The CB3's catch my eye every time I'm at a golf shop and are very easy to hit.
This agian, I just picked up the CB2's, I play off a 6 and could not hit the X-Forged long irons consistantly, hitting the CB2 4 iron felt like any other club in the set, it really was as easy as any of the mid irons. I can only imagine the CB3 would be even more forgiving...

You want cheap, classic clean looks ,thin topline, forgiving , forged .
Hogan Apex Edge or Apex Edge pros
I see no reason a bogie golfer wanting a forge would look any further then a redline or even an apex II. Probably would want an apex 3 shaft in those oldies, such beauties.

All the way to page 3 before somebody suggests Scratch EZ-1s? Might be the most forgiving forged irons I ever tried. Very thin top line, progressive offset, and pretty large face that is long from heel-to-toe. And super-clean cavities: just a small Scratch logo, that's it. Mizzy

MX 200s are pretty close in forgiveness. Hands down the easiest to hit forging they ever produced, you should be looking at these rather than MX300s if that's your primary consideration.

Lastly, recently picked up a set of Wilson Staff FG V2s and they are proving to be pretty nice as well.
