Noh working with Foley?

I was surprised to hear today that Noh is now working with Foley. I always thought he was a Butch Harmon guy, or used to be. Anyways, regardless of the coach is, this guy has one of the sweetest swings i have seen in a long time. In my opinion, up there with rory or adam scott.

There are a lot of threads on here talking about Foley, mainly in the context of Tiger, and whether he is helping or hurting Tiger's swing. I haven't really read much about what Foley actually teaches though. Is he a system guy? Doe he have any unique perspectives or philosophies regarding the swing? It seems like his students (Rose, Mahan, Tiger) have fairly different swings. Is there some unifying principle? With the stable of players this guy is putting together, he must be one hell of a coach, one hell of a salesman, or both.

Centered pivot with a lateral shift in transition to get hip center forward. Studied with Bennet & Plummer and I believe Mac O'Grady so his teachings are very similar to those camps. Biggest difference between his method and S & T is that he emphasizes making a centered turn as opposed to staying more left.

The centered pivot is the happy medium between S&T and the traditional rocker, which is what Foley is teaching.

It offers the stability of the S&T pivot and the power of the rocker.

It's basically what I have been working on for some years.

The S&T fanatics seem to believe you can't have a centered pivot and still maintain the lower spine/weight shift required to generate effective power.

While I do not want to turn this into another silly S&T thread, S&T's basic premise is weight left going more left. There is nothing centered about attempting to keep weight left throughout the entire swing.

A proper pivot has little to do with where the weight is but more of how the lower spine swings and how the shoulders rotate around the C7 vertebrae.

There is a reason Foley has a stable of race horses and Mike and Andy have a trailer of circus clowns.

If you dont want it to turn into a silly stack and tilt thread then maybe you shouldnt make silly comments about something you know nothing about.

I think just about anyone can tell the difference between a centered pivot and a start-left, move-left S&T swing.

Regardless of what some S&T disciples want to believe, this is not rocket science.

I actually think both swings work, but hearing S&T fans constantly trying to make that move sound more popular on tour than it is, gets pretty old.

That video was ridiculous. Luke's swing has almost NOTHING in common with that S&T.....except that they both turn their shoulders.

The central tenet of all the swing philosophies mentioned here is the maintenance of a stable axis. You can (and oh lord do we ever!) argue endlessly about how best to express this principle, but that's the take-away.

Keep your head steady, turn your shoulders in a circle, get your weight forward into impact. Thus speaketh Bennett, Plummer, Foley, Waite, Wedzik, Evans etc. etc. etc.
