So who makes a golf polo that actually keeps you cool and dry?

As per the title...I have many Nike "golf"/performance type polos. Plus several from Antigua's golf line. But I still end up sticky and uncomfortable - I expect more from something called "Dri-Fit". Heck cotton feels better in my opinion until it gets too wet from sweat.

I'm guessing someone makes a polo that keeps you cool - any suggestions?

I'm not sure there's a perfect solution. I have tried a lot of different companies and really haven't found much that keeps you dryer than the dri-fit materials. My dad sweats like crazy and is hooked on the Peter millar stuff. Anything cotton, even the performance cottons found in like Travis Mathew and Iliac get soaked. From what I've found, the coolest and most 'dry' are Light colors and performance materials such as dri-fit. I would be interested to see what other say, but, I've chalked it up that you can't stay dry, cool and not sticky when it's mid 80+ in Ohio in July

Check out the new Oakley shirts with O Hydrolix. Where I live it's over 100 degrees all summer. These are amazing.

When it's 90+ degrees, 30+ humidity I'm not sure anything will keep you cool and dry. It was 95 today and with the index over 100 in north east Louisiana and my shirt was soaking wet. My dri fit and clima cools work fine. The old navy performance shorts work good also.

The new ashworth shirts are quite good.. check them out on facebook "ashworth golf" poke around they have a "sign up to win a free shirt" which is basically "yeah I can't find a shirt for this heat" and they send you a freebie.. I got one this way anyway.. and it is .. actually my favorite shirt which is what they were going for...

All Dri-Fit's don't work the same. For me - try to find the smooth/non striped/non textured patterns - I think they work the best. Some even have 5% spandex/lycra weaved in and it feels spongier and lighter and seems to keep the shirt "lifted" away from my skin better.

All the fabrics work similarly whether they are from Adidas, Nike or UA...but again, the weave matters.

I live on TX and its always 100+. UA heat gear fills my closet. I love the stuff.
[/quote]

I wear heat gear boxer briefs. Heat gear golf shorts. Heat gear polo. And when I don't want to get sun burned or mess with lotion on my arms, heat gear compression long sleeve.

I literally feel like I'm wearing pajamas while I golf. The boys stay dry and I am so freaking comfy. They even make heat gear hats that are pretty sweet. I wear them when I don't want to sweat out my titleist ones.

I think you should experiment a little more with the different types of tech shirts made by certain manufacturers. Just because something is labeled as a tech polo, it does not mean they are all intended to do the exact same thing and feel the same way. I can tell you my experience has been that the stretch tech polo's are the best. DO NOT by tighter fitting shirts if you want to avoid feeling the heat--just common sense.

That's what I am trying to do! Just wanted to see if there was a consensus on something that worked before I start experimenting with $60 dollar polos from various brands.
The UA Heat Gear sounds promising, also the Oakley stuff. Thanks for the suggestions....

The Nike Dri-Fits stick to me like crazy - I can't stand them. Switched to Under Armor this year (in particular the hard to find Heat Gear Touch) and haven't looked back. Most of the Adidas Climacool shirts work fine too, just not as well as the Under Armor. Picked up an Oakley yesterday in a Labor Day sale at GG, so I'm looking forward to trying that. I assume it will make me play like Rory.

Yes, the Norman stuff. They are ahead of the curve with the tech, and have been for years. No, they don't do silly helmets for college football teams. They just make the most technical apparel available. Ask the yarn salesman. He knows what's up.

All moisture wicking material works about the same with small variations, mostly from the inside texture. Personally I really like Adidas Formotion. Not all of them, there was a line from 2 years ago with a big stretch wavey patch on the upper back and 3 stripes on lower back. It is the best one for hot weather by far.
AdiPure's brushed inside surface also works very well to give you minimal skin contact so the material doesn't feel "stick" on you.

Adidas Climacool, Izod XFG, UA heatgear, PGA Tour. All of those keep me dry and cool no matter the conditions.

Yesterday was 93 with a heat index of 100. I was wearing my PGA Tour polo and Izod XFG shorts and walked, purposely, right into a sprinkler to cool down a bit. The shorts were dry by the 2nd hole afterward and the shirt by the 3rd hole.

Sorry...should explained it better. Within certain brands, there are multiple types of shirts. Not brand to brand.
