JAMES HAHN - BEST SWING YOU'VE NEVER SEEN?

i'm honestly not sure that i have seen a better swing. i would love to hear a break down of his swing p1-p9.

his arms appear to move in nicely and he has great early wrist set. for me this is a difficult combination as i tend to get them what i think is in (which on camera is actually a little "lifty" and not as in as i think) and not set - or roll the arms (thinking that i am bringing them in) getting the club or sweet spot way under the plane then lift.

i really want the correct combination of in - with the appropriate wrist set. this kid has both - and what appears to be a very bright future!

Pretty much exactly what im shooting for. Whose his coach dana dahlquist? Lol

Given that Dan Carraher uploaded the footage, I'm going to guess his coach is Dan Carraher. ;)

How good are those alignments at the top of the backswing? Sick.

From this angle, he actually looks laid off. I like his turn into the ball though, very smooth.

The laid off swing is what he is working on not doing. The same video the laid off still was pulled from has a better backswing. That's actually the before causing club to steepen in transition and he used to "tip out" a bit. He's now shallower and can flight it down when he wants.

His putter is an off the rack studio stainless putter with no paintfill. Been using it forever.

For differences in your swing look at how his right wrist bends/left wrist cocks while right arm is extended. Your right arm folds faster than you set the club and get too narrow with arms. Will feel wide with arms and narrow with club
[/quote]

makes sense. thanks for commenting on his swing (and mine). you are working with some incredible golfers - are you making the transition with james to the big show - or will you continue mixing it up in a variety of places?

Will see how it plays out. I go where they need help. I'll have guys on both tours as I did last year and the first half of the year with Matt Every off to a hot start. James is low maintenance and it's more keeping him focused and not tinkering for the sake of tinkering. Every player is different in terms of needs. I just go with the flow. I go to 10-15 events a year. I'm not out there every week. Im at a club in FL helping a local high school and teach lessons to average golfers 5 days week. Will never only teach tour players and always want be available for the juniors and amateurs I teach. Not looking to "blow up" so to speak. At the end of the day I'm just providing some guidance, they are the ones hitting all the shots.

Very cool, I remember seeing pics on here and saw his testing a Tour Spec at one time... What else is in there?

The pics from the tournament look like Razr Fit with Tour Spec.

....it just seems rory's swing is more powerful..but then i have no idea how strong this other guy is..

i just saw rory play 18 holes today with tiger woods and his swing was so consistent the whole day and he always was in perfect balance..

i don't think he hit a poor shot the whole day and shot an effortless 67 to beat tiger by 1..

He's tried a couple shafts but seems to favor that one. Just like putters. He's had different putters but always goes back to old OTR studio stainless insert putter. Playing 913f, 910hd, 712mb, and sm4 wedges I believe. I also believe KBS in irons but he's tried a couple sets so not crystal on that.

Sorry Iteach, could you elaborate as I think this could be key for me. Are you saying there should be a focus on extending the right arm back while coming left wrist?

Look at James' face on video. When hands are just past hip high the club is fully set with right arm virtually straight. Look at Swanry's video and see how right arm folds very early with little setting of the club.

This swing looks too robotic for my liking, though it's obviously technically sound. I guess when he's walking 35 yards further up the fairway to Rory's ball, that's when you'd think it wasn't as good. I have never, ever seen anyone swing the club that powerfully with that amount of balance (re Rory).

You realize this is filmed at high speed? If you watched the web.com tour championship you'd see at full speed it's anything but robotic. The thing with Rory is his swing is very one dimensional. It's getting better but his path is still VERY in to out (driver was 10* in to out beginning of the year). He has to aim quite a bit left to hit straight shots and his fades are basically pushes. He can hit it extremely high but will struggle in very windy conditions and always tend to miss left. James can hit any shot you ask of him. It's like Golden Tee, but sometimes to his own detriment as he has so many options he sometimes struggles picking which shot to it. Rory is a much better golfer at this point but I'd rather have James' swing. I think as they both get older James will become a better golfer and Rory will neutralize his path more so he can work it both ways and doesn't have that big left miss

Today was the first day I heard of James Hahn. I watched this weekends past tournament and the first swing I saw I was in awe. I began looking at videos, etc. etc. He has one of those admirable swings. I wish him best of luck on tour next year!
