Fun Package from Titleist Arrived in the Mail Today

I received and tested the new ProV1x (red numbers are 1x, black numbers are 1) in late September and throughout this month. 5 rounds plus hour or more pitch/chips to practice greens, bajillion putts. Also had long conversation with Acushnet reps on/off the course.

Definitely found the ball goes further on all full swings - driver, fairway clubs, irons, wedges - you will have to adjust for GIR accuracy, particularly with wedges; less spin for me. Cover scuffs and peels [u]less[/u] - but does scale/mar up a bit. Because it didn't spin as much it stops pretty much in place, minimal back up with short irons (hard NorCal late summertime-like greens). There will be a marketing slogan for this, no doubt.

Different dimple pattern, not sure what that does. Slightly duller color - paint I guess. Feels very soft on putts. So far can't judge if higher, lower flight. I tend to hit a high ball with all irons (average ball striker); definitely better into a headwind. Gonna cost, but it is a great ball. Hit Nike 20XIs, Bridgestone 330S, TM P5, regular ProV1x and some others/rocks on courses in comparison. Better than 2012 version. Best ball I've ever hit.

It's a ball. It won't look different. The 2013 balls are WAY different performance wise than the 2011. Greater playing characteristic separation between the balls. New v1x will launch considerably lower than 2011

t flies the same, goes no further and I'd challenge anyone, in a peer reviewed, blind test, to show a performance difference. I know "new" is viewed as better, but this is the same. Still great, but just a 2 year model change to promote sales. Laudable for commerce, but not different... :busted_cop:

Sorry but I've had multiple tour players on trackman testing the ball, as they don't have to switch and can play the older balls, and the 2013 prov1x over all flight was significantly lower than 2011 prov1x. I have both 2013 balls as well as the prototype ball made as a replacement for the 2007 v1x (basically 07 ball with new cover). Also how the balls curve are very different over the years. Trust me the balls play quite different, especially the v1x. One of my players had a 14 yard difference between the balls (older vs new). Now you could have gained the distance back by refitting the driver but with same driver there was a huge difference.

I don't have them saved but you think I'm making it up? Do you think there were guys on tour playing 2005 balls because they wanted to be difficult and not because there is a difference? This year there were at least 12 balls available to tour players from Titleist and they all have differences, such as the 2009 ball curves less than the 2007 ball. To be honest I don't need to prove anything and it won't matter as you will only have access to the current balls anyways, but there are significant differences in how they play.

Got mine in the mail the other day, the weather here in ohio is terrible so i might just throw them on eBay.... I prefer srixon xv anyways....

Received the same package and 22 October letter yesterday. Can't wait to try them out, as I've been flirting with the 2011 ProV1X as a possible alternative to the Srixon XV I've been playing since shortly after it came out.

Took a picture of the three balls and sent it to my brother, a PGA Professional on the gulf coast of Florida.

His response: "Great to be able to test them. But what are you going to play for the other 15 holes?"
