Cobra ZL encore and S3 white drivers

hey,

 

I currently game the S3 white 9.5 with a real motore F1 65 stiff shaft . I picked up a new cobra ZL encore 9.5 with the stock shaft stiff 55 at a golf town demo sale.

 

I took it to the range today and living in ontario it was really cold , the clubs were cold and the ball were cold so i couldnt really tell how each felt.

 

to me when its warm out my S3 usally feels solid, comes off the face soft and has a higher sound

 

but today in the cold when hitting balls it felt really hard and the ball felt like rocks.

 

the ZL encore felt i little harder and a duller noise off the face

 

can anyone else give any insight in how the 2 compare in feel and sound

In my experience, the ZL Encore will have a more muted feel and sound than the S3 due to the construction of the club. When a club includes more composite materials, then the feel normally becomes more muted than a primarily titanium driver. I have no actual research to prove this than what my ears hear and my hands feel.

ZL E is composite, sound is more muted, feels hot off the face but the design of the ZL E will give more forgiveness and will usually result in a much higher ballflight

I've owned both clubs. Currently playing a ZL Encore. I'd take the ZL Encore over the S3 all day. The S3 didn't have nearly as good of a feel in my mind...and I remember it being somewhat obnoxiously loud if memory serves.

ZLE will definately feel/sound more muted. To be honest, it reminds me a lot of a Callaway driver in terms of feel.

The S3 has more a crack sound/feel with a bit of "springyness" added in. More like a Titleist head

Both are great heads but you'll see a higher launch and more forgivness out of the ZLE as 907 mentioned.

There were some sweet deals at that demo sale eh? I found a Amp 3 wood with a real deal Ilima in it for sub hundro.

ya the encore I picked up was almost mint, like 9/10, just some light grass marks
