I would like to start by thanking the staff at TMAG for having us out to their awesome facility, and giving us the Royal treatment! I can't say enough about how nice, and welcoming they were to us. Other than their great products the best part about TMAG are the people who work there. These guys are real golfers who really love the game of golf. It also doesn't hurt that alot of them are Packer fans LOL.
Our trip went something like this. We got off the the plane and headed to pick up our bags and were greated by a limo driver with a sign that had our names on it. super cool.... He took us straight to the main office where we meet with the VP of the company along with the designers, and global managers for Woods, Irons, and Golf Balls. They showed us the new products, and explained all the science in them. We asked tons of crazy questions and they answered everyone of them while we were having a catered lunch!
After the meeting we went down to the Kingdom, and were brought over to the far left private tee. They had the track man set and all the clubs were there for us to try and test! It was a bit somber because we were hitting balls on Mr Flick's lesson tee, and he had passed away that day. I was able to hit and test eveything, and compare them against my current clubs.
At this time I am able to speak about the irons so here goes...First I tested and compared the irons. I had brougth my favorite set of irons, the 300's to test. When I hit the 300's on the track man I was carrying my 7 iron on average 162 yards. I then hit the RocketBladez Tours and my carry went up to167 and the best part was they went a bit higher. Next I hit the RocketBladez and I was carrying the 7 iron 173 yards, and hitting it even higher than I was with the tours!
After hitting balls until it was pitch black we went inside and tried some proto putters while Tim told us some great stories about Mr Flick.
Then we were off to a very nice dinner where we had great conversation, and laughs. After dinner I was super tired and it was straight to bed because we had an early tee time at Torrey in the morning!
Our round of golf was great except for the super thick fog that rolled in for a few holes. What a a great golf course. I'ts super hard and Long! I really enjoyed my time on the course with the TMAG guys it was truely a great day.
After golf we were picked up in the parking lot and driven back to the airport. Talk about a whirlwind of fun!
I'll post more details, and be happy to answer questions about the irons.
Thanks Zach

Sounds like a blast! Hoping to visit the kingdoms this year myself. I currently play cg7 tour irons. Assuming I will get Rocketbladez tour irons. What kind of distance game do you think I will see. Also I play project x in them how will the TM stock shaft differ?

now, i would hope you would hit the rocketbladez further, but my question is how was the consistency of the distance and how was the accuracy?

longer/higher is only better if it makes the ball end up closer to the hole (unless you are buying into all the marketing that all these companies are doing, of course)

Did you get to test the long irons in the Tour version of these irons? If so how did they compare to your current irons in distance and trajectory?

So based on the results which one would you be more likely to game the standards or the tours? Also, did the slot really increase forgiveness and consistency?

I wish I can see him again too. He's one of their good guys with TMag staff. A fun guy to talk with and to play a round with.

Yes he is and you were lucky to get fitted by him too. I wish I would have been lucky enough to draw Perry as my club fitter that day. He made up for it later that night though in the lobby though...

As far as consistency they were both spot on when I made a good swing. At this time I am honestly a bit torn because I can't figure out which ones to get. I may be leaning to the Tours because they look so pure, but the non tours are super easy to hit....

With the lofts set the way they are between the two sets, I don't see how you can mix them.

Thanks Zach

how do you Kingdomers keep your objectivity about the new stuff when you're on the TM dime?
If they were truly "on the take" there would be no reason for this site. Many of us, including myself, have been on one of these. Many of us have tested clubs for OEMs to see what real golfer's impressions are. We know that we have to remain objective in order to help make products better. We're under no obligation to say glowing things. They would like us to, but not every product hits the mark. And they really want to know what we think.

I was lucky enough to go in 2011. I remember one exchange with their media guy. I was on the putting green with TheMoney Shot using the original Ghost putter. He asked what we thought of it. He liked it, I hated it, because it felt harsh. I argued that putting is personal. Not everyone likes the same feel, no matter what science and Kia Ma's experience is. He told us that there was a prototype in the works at a different price point they might be coming out with. Verdict? Softer insert. It was not in their original plan but they did it because real golfers gave real input. That's why they do this. Outside of things like this, product developers talk to each other. Not go out and ask the masses anything. It's a benefit to us because we're golfers who would never get to do something like this, but to them also for information.

There is marketing to this as well to be sure. But they really want to make sure what they're doing is working. Or not. They're going to play it anyway. We have a choice. And they're well aware of that too. Nike, Ping, and a few others have done this as well for the same reasons. We all get something out of it.

Actually it's easy because they asked us for honest feedback.

I've got some stuff to post, guys. Give me a few hours to catch up on work and pull out the camera.

We'll have more info -- video and story -- on the RocketBallz irons on the front page and in a separate thread coming soon as well.

So did you see any marked imporvement in the forgiveness, and distance for the RocketBladez? Does the tech really work?

Guys,

How did the new black ATV wedges look when you visited the Kingdom?

My friend I am sorry, but at this time we are only allowed to speak about the irons...

Lol, I tried to catch you off guard with that one...

I remember that like it was yesterday. The guys at TM were super excited about their new ghost line of putters that year too. TB3 and I spent a lot of time rolling the pill on the green seeing if we could both adapt more to the more harsh feel, needless to say we both did not like it at all and prefer a much more softer feeling putter. When we explained that to their PR guy he appreciated our feedback and stated that something would be in the works. They really do want our feedback wether it was good or bad. The guys at TM are truly class acts for sure!
