Best fitted base layer

Looking for a nice and warm fitted base layer. I'm not a fan of UA, and I hate compression gear alltogether.

 

I've looked at the FJ ProDry Base Crewneck but it has alot of reviews where people complain that is really small.

 

What's the best fitted base layer for what i'm looking for?

Check out Columbia omni heat gear - they have a long sleeve crew and a long sleeve quarter zip up. They will keep you warm above all others. Not compression.

The best base layer is Woolpower, expensive, but you did say you wanted the best. The stuff is incredible, wont stink and doesn't itch a bit

I have bought a couple of Puma base layer heat gear and I really like it. All of the major apparel companies have great products in this category now so it's really just a matter of preference. If you don't want to spend a lot of money try looking at the C9 collection at Target.

Outdoor magazine gave a great review of the SmartWool NTS Mid 250 baselayer, but retail price is around $100

Any good merino wool mid weight or artic weight...Icebreaker, Smartwool, I have also read the Minus33 stuff is pretty good for a little less money. All those are warmer than any UA stuff. Even a few bucks cheaper, go to Duluth Trading and read the reviews on the 3 dog fleece, not one bad review. I have the top on the way and if it's as good as they say I'm going to order the bottoms. Get Under Armour 'fitted' not compression. Also can get a crew neck and not a mock. There are options for those who aren't UA fanboys. Go try some on, you'll be surprised how good this stuff really is.

I like the Adidas Climawarm fitted base layer I have. Very warm and non-restrictive.

I have Footjoy, LL Bean and Under Armor and like the Under Armor the best. I have the slightly looser fitted style rather than the tight compression style base layer. This stuff simply works. I find when I wear the Under Armor I can wear less layers and keep just as warm and swing better.

+1 to the fitted. I'm a fan of the mock and the crew. Really really comfortable and warm. Nice and soft too.

I have the footjoy base and it is very nice but it is compression style. I have an Adidas one and like that a lot also.

Yeah, I think a lot of people don't realize that the inside (unlike some other brands ) is almost like a different material and is very very soft on the skin.

I like the UA fitted as others have said and usually wear those.

Also have Patagonia base layer (capilene) which has a zipper if you need to ventilate. I'll wear it if it's cold, sunny but not windy as I may start to sweat too much and need to cool off.

I have been enjoying UA compressing and fitted base layer for the last 3 winters. Patagonia base layer is great also. You won't be disappointed with either one.

I prefer wool, generally Icebreaker, Ibex, or Smartwool. I'm sure there are other good brands, just can't speak to them.

If you prefer synthetic, you might try Patagonia Capilene (whatever thickness you require).

Nike's pro combat gear is tight fitting but great. I also like the crew neck UA cold gear.
