Problems tightening clubhead on 913 D2

ShowMe

Recommended Posts

Got a 913 D2 a couple of weeks ago. I've adjusted it several times without any problems (although occasionally it was a bit difficult to tighten the clubhead), but today I was unable to fully tighten the clubhead back on to the shaft after making an adjustment. The screw would go in about half-way and stop. I've tried every combination - A-D, 1-4 - but the head will not fully tighten. I don't think that I've stripped the screw as I did not try to overly force it on.

Anybody else having this problem?

i had the same problem on my D3. I took back to the shop where I purchased it from and the guy messed around with it and got it to work. Supposedly the screws in the new 913 is longer than the 910 so sometimes the screws dont match up? After having the guy at the shop mess around with it, it seemed to work just fine.

I was in the same boat, didnt want to force it for the fear of stripping it so I took it back to have the shop mess with it. He did mention that if they were to get stripped, they can send it back to Titleist and have them fix it. The shop I went to was Roger Dunn's in OC.

good luck

Thanks. I took it back to my shop today and the guy said it was an issue with the screw in the head (as he was able to screw a different head into the shaft), so he's sending it back to Titleist for repair/replacement. He said that his experience has been that the Titeist drivers seem to have more issues with screwing the head on to the shaft as compared to the Taylormade drivers.

Yes, I had exactly the same issue with mine. Ironically I have not had a problem with my Grafalloy Bimatrix, but my Matrix 6m3 had the same problem as you. I ended up cross threading it!! I had it re-tapped, but I think, in re-tapping it, it has altered the alignment, and so affected the settings, so I'm back off to my Clubfitter on Friday, to have a new adapter fitted to see if that does the trick.

Yeah! My fault though for cross threading the damn thing in the first place. First time this has ever happened to me as I have used adjustable Drivers for two years and changed settings hundreds of times. Just goes to show that there is always a first time. Titleist say it shouldn't make a difference to the orientation of the settings, but its in my head now, so its better to just get another surefit adapter sleeve fitted I reckon. Or it could be just an excuse to go see my fitter to try out some new shafts he has just had come through!! Lol.

sounds like you guys may have been buying upgraded shafts off one of the many "sharks" on ebay that are selling high end premium shafts with the "aftermarket sure fits" on them

if so thats your problem

the aftermarket sleeves are slightly different threads and you have to use the screw that comes with them

good advice is "stay well away from aftermarket sure fits" the 913 / 910 shaft market on ebay has been utterly ruined now by them.

ive sold loads of Genuine surefits, i get Original titleist shafts and remove them

i'll name a big seller on ebay usa that sells premium shafts for mega $'s his ebay name is "repriocity" he DOES NOT delcare on his ads that your getting a cheap worthlesss aftermarket sure fit sleeve on the shaft

Mine was from an original Titleist shaft that came with the Driver, so certainly not true in my case.

Yes I know. Pitiful really. Lol. Seriously though, I may just ask my fitter to send it back to Titleist to evaluate first and see what they say. But whilst I'm at my fitters I may as well try the Matrix X3, Kuro Kage Silver, Attas 4u, and the new Oban Kiyoshi White. It'd be criminal not to!! Haha.

Nope. I have a 913D3 I bought from my PGA professional at the Club I am a member of and it has a D+ stock shaft with all authentic stuff and I definitely had a hard time getting the screw to go in the first 2-3 times I made adjustments. It very certainly feels different and takes longer to screw in than my 910. I was swapping shafts back and forth between them and the difference is noticeable for sure.

Mine was the D+ stock shaft, also bought from my club's PGA pro, so that's not my issue.

My guy let me borrow a demo D3 with the RIP shaft while my D2 is getting repaired. No issues tightening the head on the D3. However, I do notice that, generally speaking, it is more difficult to tighten the head on the 913's than it was on my r11s tp. You have to be a lot more exact on aligning the clubhead with the shaft on the 913's in order for them to tighten correctly.
