Adams Fast 12 LS ~ Any opinions?

MG 1977

Mulling over an Adams Fast 12LS, Not many of them knocking about over here in the UK, in fact I dont think I've ever seen any body gaming one all season. I'm really interested as they can be had very cheap and I want to try the Fubuki alpha in x-flex, this seems a good way to get a complete setup for less than an new uncut shaft would cost me.

Who's gaming this driver or who had it and has moved on? Opinions for and against very welcomed.

I had it and have moved on (it's actually still in the garage). I put an ADDI6 in a 10.5* head. It played to 45.5". I never hit it on a launch moniter. From the eye I can tell you that it was terrific. I was able to hit long straight bombs with it (which is a miracle for me). The silver crown and ridges took a little getting used to. I went with a 10.5* because I hit the 9.5* and couldn't get the ball elevated enough. It was fairly forgiving. The only reason I moved on (and maybe a reason I haven't sold it) is because I fell in love with a Yonex EZone 380. I can hit the ball almost as far and with just as much control. I just like the look of the smaller eZone head a little better. There definitely wasn't anything wrong with the F12LS. If you decided to go with it you won't be disappointed.

Still loving my fast 12 ls. Have tried a few shafts in it now and think I have the one that is going to last a while. The head doesn't feel great on mishits (very harsh) but the results are suprisingly good considering how low spin it is. And it is a very low spinning head, one of the lowest on the market right now along with the cleveland classic. Very hot out of the middle but I have hit better feeling drivers. Looks also take a little while to get used to. That said, while I usually prefer more traditional looking/feeling clubs the F12 LS is good enough to overcome that.

The Fast 12 LS is an outstaning driver. Hot face, good forgiveness, with limited adjustability. I don't want all the options of an R11s. That's why the Adams is perfect for me. I have two shafts for it; the Black Tie and a GD YSQst. An AXE Xcaliber 6+ will be here by this weekend. Can't wait to try that out! I have an 8.5 head that I play on the "open" setting which drops the loft to 7.5 and opens the face 1*. Throw on the extension to play at 45.5" and voila! The beast appears...

Do a search for ball speed and there is quite a thread about the Fast12LS. It is in my bag for the foreseeable future. 10 yards farther than anything else I've hit (due to the low spin) with great stock options for the shaft. Much more forgiving than I would have expected. If I put a half way decent swing on it, I'm in good shape. I've had several people ask, "what driver is that" after seeing me hit it. If you find something better, tell me!

Love the driver, for me it's long and straight, although I find the Fubuki somewhat soft to flex (mine's an S). I have a Kiyoshi that's about to get pulled from my 9064LS to have a Fast 12LS adapter put on it, and I think I'll be set for a while.

The new 913s look nice, but I've had great luck with three Adams drivers in a row (9015D, 9064LS, now the Fast 12LS), and see no reason to change while this one performs as well as it does for me.

I have a 9.5 paired with a Nunchuk shaft. It really is a fairway finder and is as long as anything else out there. The only thing I would change to is another Fast 12LS with 10.5 loft as I would like a bit higher trajectory.

I bought mine with the Black Tie in it and hit pretty damn good. Have since put an original Grafalloy Blue in it and am now killing it with even better accuracy. Another plus is the club now looks awesome with that Blue shaft and silver head, great looking combo.

It's an excellent driver but beware because it is very low launching to go with the low spin. Many players have had to go up a degree in loft from what they normally play. I wasn't a fan of the Fubuki Alpha but the 6M3.1 is an excellent shaft that I personally didn't find much lower launching than the Alpha but with better control. I put a DI6 in mine and it was freakishly long.

I moved on because I found the Anser to be a better fit for me. The finish on the Fast 12 LS seems to hold up bettter than Adams drivers from a few years ago. Also, the Adams wrench is unlike the TM, Titleist, Ping and Callaway wrenches, which are interchangeable. It has a triangle shaped bit.

Can anyone confirm the tip diameter of the shaft for the Fast 12 LS. Thanks!

Yuma could not have said it better for me as well. When I first got it, around 6 months or so ago, I would let one of the Friday regulars in our group hit it. They had one the next week!

I also just bought a brand new one as back up, as prices fall. For me, it will be a shocker if this driver gets kicked out of the bag over the next 2 years! JMHO

Although the Super LS looks very with the VST in the driver, I think once that comes out the prices of the F12LS will drop even further. Once that happens I may pick up a 9.5 with the stiff Fubuki and possibly a couple shaft tips. Then I could just build any combo I desired when the need to hoe kicks in. I'm also REALLY excited that the Super LS seems to have the same tip as the F12LS. I'm hoping that will result in more shafts with the tips already installed floating around on the market!

I got an LS early in the year. STock setup with the FUbuki. Could never get in sync with it. Just for kicks I put a MATRIX RUL 54 that came with the Speedline TECH in the LS and cut the shaft down 1/2 inch on the grip end. CLub length 45.5 inches. Great combination of point and shoot , and consistent distance, but the ball flight and angle of descent was a little steep. THat said if you can find a TOUR ISSUE F12 LS with a glued hosel , it is a totally different club. More forgiving, and a muted 510TP Like feel. It is a cannon. I shafted a 10.5 with a MATRIX RUL 60. Its the longest most consistent driver setup I have (and I have most of em). The only driver that has more firepower is an Adams Launch Lab with a HOF HD PROTO, and a handful of JDM SETUPS. The glued hosel model is also more forgiving than the adjustable model. A Unique trait of the glued model is how far it hits if you make contact on the low side of the face. If you hit a groove or to low , the trajectory will be lower but the carry and rollout is incredible even on semi lush fws.

I'm currently gaming this driver.... Great driver. Longest one I owned/tested this year. I was able to grab a couple of them cheap off Ebay. 9.5* with matrix black tie Stiff, and 8.5* Fubuki Alpha X-flex. Long, low spin bombs off the sweet spot. I will say that they have a decent amount of forgiveness, but most of the other drivers I played this year (razr fit, rocketballz, cleveland classic) were more forgiving. Most of my misses are high-toe misses, and it seems to lack in forgiveness on the toe. Hope this helps.

Funny. i switched back to the F12LS. I got a chance to hit the 913D2, F12LS, and eZone380 on the course. The course was empty so I go to hit 3 balls off the tee on every hole. My eZone ADDI6 and the 913 with Phenom were pretty close in distance. The eZone had a much lower launch. Well, on to the F12LS. It was awesome! I put a PL Red into it. The launch was perfect and it was about 5-10 yards further. There were less mishits with the F12LS as well compared to the 380. I lost distance and accuracy with the 380.

That being said, I just bought an Oban Revenge to put in the F12LS to give it a try. I might switch the ADDI6 into the F12LS to try that too! So for now the F12LS is firmly back in the bag!

Great driver, looks are a little strange with the silver and notches and the groove pattern on the face but the performance benefits certainly outweigh the cosmetic negatives. It gets great ballspeed,(2-3 mph higher than 913D3 for me), and is actually way more forgiving than it is made out to be. This is because the feel on mishits is very sharp, but the ballspeed is actually still there in my opinion. Cheap and good stock shafts (although I am gaming a Accra Tour Z+ in mine), If this was a taylormade it would have been a best-seller, but the Adams brand kept it out of a lot of uninformed golfers bags.

I'll rank the 3 shafts as follows:
Distance (best/worst): AXE, Black Tie, GD
Feel: GD, AXE, Black Tie
Overall awesomeness: AXE, Black Tie, GD

They're all really good shafts. I'd be happy to bag any one of 'em. That said, the AXE 6+ is the winner. Great, very flat flight. I actually hit it just a bit higher than the Black Tie. The AXE doesn't sacrifice carry distance, though. Feels good, almost as good as the GD. I have only recently put the 6+ in play, and have hit some huge drives that are all carry. Highly recommend it. The price makes it a no-brainer. I sanded the driver head and left it bare, and with the AXE "dagger" graphics and white IT2 grip it looks like a junkyard dog. If the new Adams Super LS is any better than this head, I will marry it and raise a family.

that's what i'm pondering myself: should i wait and get the latest and greatest, or go for bang for the buck with the fast12ls? what's your take on the fast 12 against a 9064ls?

Fast 12 LS knocked my Razr Fits (9.5/10.5) out and never looked back. Have 3ea 9.5's and a 10.5, why? Found it easier to buy another club with a shaft I wanted than just a shaft, usually cost less and have another head to test weighting, etc. Have a variety of shafts, ADDI6s, Fuji 6z08, Fuji Speeder 553, Fubuki alpha, Matrix 6m3.1, and white board 63s.

Just finished a tournament with the 9.5/6m3 combo, long and usually in the fairway, but not the best feeling. The best feeling combo is definitely the ADDI 6s with either lofted head, but prefer the 9.5. The 10.5 launches a bit high, great for those courses where you want more carry.

Can't wait to try a Launch Lab or the new Super LS.

If you'd benefit from lower spin/launch and higher ball speeds, and can find the center of the face regularly, don't even hesitate to pick one up. Misfits do sound/feel clunky, but the distance and dispersion are still very good. When you catch it on the screws it's quiet and produces flat missiles.

The Fubuki alpha is terrific. My ss is 102-106 and the x is a touch stout when I'm off a bit. That said, it's still very long and very, very straight. I can turn it over when needed, and hit cut it on command.

That said, I like to tinker, so I recently put a Fubuki K 70s in it, and I've created a monster. I'm seeing carry distances in the middle of winter that I'm not sure I've seen in the dead of summer. Can't wait for Spring when the fairways aren't muddy and I'm getting roll out too- going to have 1-2 less clubs into holes. Between the extra shaft weight and softer flex, I'm hitting it more solid than the Alpha 60x (where I miss it on the heel a bit more often).
