Ping i20 long irons - offset

Thinking about picking up a set of i20 irons 3-PW. I'm worried the the 3 and 4 irons will be hook machines with all of that offset.

 

Any feedback on this from people who like to play a draw?

While offset does not mechanically cause hooks, if a lot offset makes you feel as if you would hit hooks, then I would stay away from i20 irons. The long irons have a considerable amount of offset

I have I20s and don't hook the long irons at all. They are super easy to hit and give a nice high flight.

My problem is that I hook the short irons too often, that is a whole other story........

Echo that the offset doens't necessarily cause hooks. I play the i20's and a draw. The 3 iron had a little toooo much offset so I picked up the 20* i20 hybrid.

Thanks for the feedback. So you are happy with the i20's? I'm looking to get my ball flight up and thinking the CFS Stiff and the i20 head will do just that. But, I see you play X100's so maybe you can't comment on that exact setup.

I play the i20s with CFS stiff and my natural shot shape is a draw. I don't have a problem hooking the long irons, but they do fly quite high.

Are you losing any distance with the added height?

Any thoughts on distance loss with the added height? I can't play KBS Tour stiff for that reason - way too much spin. I've read though that the CFS shafts don't create excessive spin.

I was complaining about snap-hooks with my i20 3 and 4 irons, then started playing 712MBs which have very little offset, and...

I still can snap-hook my 3 and 4 iron.

I'm playing mine with C-Taper S+. They are on a powerful trajectory, and I did not feel they spun more. They may spin more than blades, like the Tours you have pictured, but I can't imagine they will be detrimental.

I'm concerned more about the shaft than the head in regard to spin.

A buddy plays the CFS stiff, coming off Rifle 6.5's, his are high but he's able to flight them when necessary as well. No ballooning, unless its really windy.

I play the cfs in stiff and coming from S300 the last 15 years I can tell you the ball flight is a lot higher but I haven't noticed excessive spin or ballooning. I will tell you they seem to play a little weak to flex. I am thinking about sending mine back and having them hard stepped.
