Northwest WRX Tournament 2013

We need to make this happen! Lets decide on a course, a date, and what kind of format we will play ($$ anybody?)

 

My ideas:

Chambers Bay in mid april and I am unsure of a good format.

My other would be Salish Cliffs after THC

Pumpkin is more convenient for me but I think Home Course is a good compromise for Portland and Seattle folks; plus it is a reasonable rate.

How about home and home. Portland and Seattle.

2 day tourney over a couple weekends to give each group from each city time to travel. Maybe Ryder Cup style? 36 in each city. Maybe 4 ball and then head to head or something?

The Home Course gets my vote. Good track and reasonable rates.

If you do it in Seattle you can call it the battle in Seattle, how are you gonna work that in Portland? Portland is like orange, nothing rhymes with it.

I like the idea of two events, one in Portland and one is Seattle. Pumpkin and Chambers get my votes.

Heron Lakes Great Blue is another alternate to Pumpkin since it is closer to the Seattle folks.

The Home Course is 1/2 the price of Chambers, and greens are probably twice as nice as Chambers too. I say lets do that instead of Chambers. It leaves rrom for more betting money too .

How many spots should we leave open for play? 20? 40? I'm not sure how many NW guys frequent this site anymore.

My choice would be the Olympic at Gold Mtn in May. Always in good shape and tournament worthy. I won't play Chambers again until something drastic is done to improve the greens.

Would love to do it at Olympic as well, #2 rates in the country at one point and it is currently my home course, but it may be too far of a drive for some, plus it usually is crowded on weekends.

I would really advise against doing it at Chambers. A friend and I are putting together a medium-sized money game and we're heading up from Portland and while they're giving us a good rate, they're not exactly easy to work with (signing a contract, paying for tee times upfront, etc). While I understand they have their processes, it's a little onerous for a group coming from PDX.

I don't doubt that The Home Course won't do the same, but at least it'd be quite a bit less expensive. I'd also wait until May. I was there last Saturday and less than impressed with the condition of the course (some of the greens were heinous).

Good to hear some input. I also dislike the way employees treat the playters at Chambers. Not outgoing and they won't let me bargain with them on $6 Gatorades.

I think Salish Cliffs is a much better track than The Home Course. It's always in impeccable condition and there is no 19th hole at The Home Course. Salish not only has a great bar with food at the clubhouse , it also has an onsite casino and hotel for the Portlanders.

It is also quite a bit pricier.

While Chambers has the most votes, THC still seems to be a better bet. Better rates, better condition.... I'm thinking June is a good month right now, maybe May?

I'm not 100% in for this but I voted for THC. Played it last month and it was already playing decent.

I won't play Chambers until the fix the greens, at least not at the prices they're asking.
I'd really like to play Salish. I've heard good things about it.

Not sure if this happened already or not - but if not I'd love to do something like this. Only played Chambers of the three listed - tend to play on the north side - but I'd be down to do something like this anywhere if it happens.
