'Raw' steel finished V-Steel

While taking a break from my A-Level revision, I decided to give myself a small projeect for the day. I had a (retail) V-Steel 3-wood in the garage which I currently don't use and I decided to take the paint off it. I used some 'wet and dry' and quite fine sand paper and I am really pleased with the results I got. It is an almost 'raw' steel finish, which I think looks great. I also decided to personalise the paint fill, like I have done with my irons, by painting the bottom and 'T' on top in blue and yellow (1/2 Swedish). The paint job is not quite as good as my irons (blue/orange - only because they were the only colours I had at the time) so I will be touching them up a little, but I am still pleased with the start. I did it because I read once that Mike Weir uses (or used) a proto TM 200 Series fairway which he managed to get without paint and he liked it so just kept using it. I was interested in this and thought I'd see what it's like and I am so pleased I am considering doing the same to my 4-wood. I may also put a spare GRAFALLOY BLUE S in it that bought from Rich and never managed to get put in something. Anyway, enough of the talk, here are some pics:

I'm curious to see better close up shots, especially of the top/crown... Could you re-take some photos using the "MACRO" lens? It's the setting that usually is depicted as a flower. Thanks!

Looks quite good, I've always been partial to that buffed stainless steel finish on irons and woods.

 

Might be an idea to resize the pictures though - I have a 19" widescreen monitor and those were way off the sides!!

Yeah, sorry I'll try and resize them. The paintfill is certainly not my best as it was done in a bit of a rush, so I will be redoing it tomorrow. My irons are much better (may get some pics of them up). Will try to get some pics for you, using macro, tomorrow

I resized them for people to see. Personally I think you did a great job at ruining it, but to each his own.

yes, i dont prefer the look of it either. i had bought one like this from a member about 4 months ago. i had to sell it again beause i had a hard time looking at it!

Thanks for the resize. I use a 200 series 4-wood, so I was not too bothered how this came out. Tried it today and found it quite nice to look at. Would just as happily use either the standard black or the unpainted finish now, having seen it. Like you said, though, rhynoc, each to their own; I'm not going to take any offence if someone doesn't like it! Forgot to take the macro pics but will try to do that tomorrow

very nice! i did the same with my old titleist 980f 3 wood and i love the way it sets up to the ball!

Looks good, just don't use it on days when the sun's out. There's a reason they put black paint on woods.
