Callaway RFX v's X-Hot Pro Drivers.

I currently have a Titleist 913 d3 with X-flex Diamana D+63. Whilst I like the club I've always liked Callaway drivers and after a couple of years of drivers that Cally's offerings haven't appealed to me the Razr Fit Xtreme and X-Hot Pro both look very nice.

I borrowed a RFX with the Aldila Trinity shaft in Stiff and played one round with it. Whilst the head looked, felt and sounded great the shaft just isnt for me, even in X I dont think I'd like it. Today I've seen the X-Hot Pro for the first time and I really like the looks of that too. However I've only seen it with the stock Project X velocity and it seems very light and soft in 6.0. I would have to order these drivers in X-Flex blind but not sure which to get or the assistant in the Shop said he could order a Matrix Black Tie in Stiff and if I dont like it he could put it out in stock. How would a stiff Black Tie compare to my Diamana D+ 63 in X?

Anybody tried these two head to head with the same shaft, maybe even the Black tie? If so which won for you and what combo did you end up buying?

I was fitted to either of them at 8.5* square with a Nunchuck playing at 44.25" in length. Dispersion was a touch tighter on the RFX, weight set with a slight draw bias, the face on the XHot was a touch hotter. I ordered the RFX 8.5* setup. I could have gone either way and not lost a minute of sleep, both are outstanding clubs.

I was fitted at Miles of Golf with Trackman, hitting outdoors with Pro V1x balls. The other heads used were. Cobra ZLE 8.5* which was right there with both cally heads, TEE 9* 913D3 @ 7.5*. I went to get fitted for a 913 and bought a cally RFX, couldnt get the spin low enough with a Titleist. All of the heads were hit with the Chuck at 44.5" once I was fitted to that shaft as it was the best for my swing, I actually swing faster and harder with a heavier shaft, I am guessing because I can feel the club everywhere in he swing and I grew up on steel.

Hope this helps.

I tried XHot, XHot Pro, and Razr Fit Xtreme last weekend. Rotated shafts through all of them,
used the PXv (red), PXv (blue) both in 6.0 and didnt really like them in any head. Narrowed it between the xhot pro and rfx, tried the trinity in stiff and x-stiff, and the matrix in stiff. Spin was too high for me in the xhot pro averaged out to around 3200, a bit lower in the matrix, but still too high.
RFX trinity in the stiff wasnt very tight dispersion, x-stiff was better, but the winner for me was the RFX with the black tie. average was just under 2700 spin, and about 10 yds longer than I averaged with the trinitys.

For me i think it was the black tie since is a touch heavier, and spun less. Felt more stable for my swing. Ordered the rfx 9.5*, with the stiff black tie to play at 44.5", tipped .75"

I tried both RFE and XHP and went with the XHP with an Adila RIP Alpha 70 shaft... got the best numbers and feel with that combo... I hit the Black Tie in both, and still got 3300rpms on a consistent basis... the XHP im right at 2200 rpms with that shaft...
Good luck!

All things being equal, the RFX is supposed to have about 500rpm less spin than the X Hot Pro. If you ordered the RFX and the Black Tie in X Flex, you better have a pretty good swing. It's a beast of a combo. If you're looking for a true low launch, low spin combo, the 8.5 RFX w/ 7M3 Black Tie in X would fit that bill without question. I would venture a guess you'd need to have a swing speed up in the mid teens to even have a shot at keeping the thing airborne though.

Based on what you're hitting now, the 7M3 stiff in an RFX (if they offer the 6M3, that might be better suited since you're playing a 6X gram shaft now) might be a good comparison to your 913 w/ D+. If you're going with the RFX, all things I've seen have said you should probably go up a bit in loft as well. Especially if you want to play it in the open position.

If you're able to try these out, whatever place has both heads you'd be able to try the Black Tie in the XHP head. They're all the same adapter so that's not an issue. I can't say if you can get the XHP w/ Black Tie without an upcharge, but it should be fairly easy to at least try it out.

Tried both at my Callaway fitting last month. Really liked both, but got better numbers with the RFX, plus I preferred the finish and the sound. You won't go wrong with either though.

I think I'm gonna get the Assistant to order the RFX with the Black Tie, then I'll be able to try it in both heads, from what I've read the Black Tie plays stiff to flex so a stiff should fit the bill. Also I've noticed that the PXv shaft in X on paper appears to be a totally different shaft to the reg and stiff version. It's 10g heavier higher kick point and stiffer tip... again I would have to order it blind so think the Black Tie is the way to go.

Hey Guys. Just wanted to share my experiences lately with the X HOT (non-pro) Head, with a Tour AD DI 6s I recently got off BST. I am a low ball hitter, and straight driver of the golf ball. For a long time, I have rotated two different Adams 9015d Heads. On Launch monitors, I basically max out at 235 Carry, with around 2700 rpm's of Spin. I am a 2 handicap, and swing speed is approximately 105 mph. For some reason, I could never get my smash factor quite high enough with the Adams, but it has still been a great club. As an experiment, I picked up the above mentioned shaft, and an X Hot 9.5 Head off ebay. On the Trackman monitor at Carls Goflland last night, I got the best numbers I have ever had. Numbers improved to 12 degree launch with 2200 spin. Smash Factor has off the charts, and carry distance was between 245-250. With these spin numbers, I should see some roll out as well. This is beyond exciting for me, especially because I am leaving on a plane tonight to FL to play . I believe the regular X hot head with a premium shaft is a fantastic option, so give it a try, and have a great season. Let me know if I can answer anyone's questions.

Great results. Thanks for sharing. I have the non pro head as well and the stock project X shaft. I may play around with the shaft once the season gets here and I tune up my swing a bit. But so far it's been good for me (1 round in CA).

Enjoy Florida and the golf.

I too have been pleasantly surprised with the regular Xhot head in an AD DI 6 shaft. Nice long and accurate. Playing it at 45 inches with 8 grams of lead tape to get it to about d3. I do want to try to find a RFE head to try with the shaft to fully compare though.
