Rory - It's not your swing buddy

I'm sick of this bs line about taking the club too far outside and dropping it inside on the downswing.

Go back and look at the footage of him at the PGA last year. He was taking it WAY outside then and has always dropped the club.

There's nothing wrong with admitting that after changing every single club in the bag the guy needs time to adjust! It doesn't mean Nike is inferior by any means, simply that even minor changes to equipment can take weeks to click.

He might not win a tournament this year but he will be back eventually when the equipment becomes familiar and he can trust it. Golf is a fickle game especially at that level.

You must be kidding yourself or watching with a blindfold, even at full speed you can see how much worse his swing is compared to last year. 6 weeks off, then 1 event and another 6 weeks off has done it too him. The new equipment and expectation doesn't help, but the swing is much worse than last year.

I have no idea how to put youtube videos in here but 5 minutes searching and it is so obvious it isn't funny.

I am going to choose my words carefully as I dont mean to offend anyone but just how does he get so messed up after having a good looking swing... is it Rory, his coach etc...

Why wouldnt you just be trying to repeat the things that worked instead of tweaking them.

I think I read somewhere where jack used to go back in the off season to his first coach and just get the basics all back in order and then play off that....

I'm already sick of all this Rory stuff. Don't really care about his money or clubs or streaky putting. No offense to others, but the media is grabbing at straws and need to find a decent story..there are plenty on tour I'm sure! Pulling for Rosey to defend.

Thanks. It is easy to pick up, any footage of him this year compared to later last year when he was at his best. The first 2 feet of the swing are completely different, his arms separate from his body and the club is well outside. Not many good places to go from there.

Agree. His swing is worse and Rory himself even said the exact same thing about the club getting stuck and he's having a problem with it. Video shows it. Case closed

His swing is VERY timing dependent. When his timing is on, he's unbeatable. When it's off, like it is now, he can't keep it on the golf course. This is just like his stretch last year, where he missed like 5 cuts in a row. Then he finally made the right tweak and went on a winning streak. Unless he makes a fundamental swing change and gets away from slinging it, he will always go through these types of streaks.

It's a lot of things snow balling on each other. Swing is off/long lay offs, lack of confidence, new clubs, BIG nike contract, BIG expectations, youth, etc.

Too many people want this kid to be the next Tiger Woods which I think is really unfair to place such enormous expectations on someone. Let's let him be Rory. He's pretty good and will figure this out.

I tried to find 2012 PGA footage but now luck. Does anyone remember his mini slump last year and what they said the fix was then?

Rory said himself I'm getting the club too inside. I'm working on keeping the club outside my hands on the takeaway.

He started to work on that and played better then slowly as most people do he overdid it and started taking it way outside. This is the same swing he won the PGA with I'm telling you.

Whoa so you mean the #1 player in the world won without his best stuff? Color me surprised.

You yourself have just discounted your own argument, by bringing evidence of missed cuts and poor play WITH HIS OTHER EQUIPMENT!

Yes, he has always dropped the club a little inside at the start of the downswing but like others have said his swing is slightly off so far this year. The tempo and timing is different and even a tiny little error, while using unfamiliar equipment, can cause big issues, which I believe is what's happening.

Perhaps we'll see him doing those over-exaggerated over-the-top rehearsal swings like Tiger does to get out of that stuck position. ;)
Nah, he liked his draw to be his go-to-shot, so he's not going to be coming down from the outside.

Not sure what you mean. Everybody's swing is timing dependent from the standpoint of sometimes it's on, sometimes it's off, but I don't see a lot hands in Rory's golf swing. He's got a backswing problem. What do you mean by "slinging it?"
