Faldo Wrist Pre-set Drill

To review , the “Faldo drill” precocks the wrists AND prepronates the lead forearm . By prepronating the lead  forearm the golfer is pre-shallowing the arms/ shaft.

In essence , it eliminates the takeaway , so the backswing boils down to a shoulder and pelvic turn . 
Some updated caveats on the the FALDO drill. 

A. As Tryanhit mentioned , the toe of the clubface should point slightly closed or parallel to the spine . This will help prevent the problems with an an open clubface in the backswing

b. Don’t move your wrists/ hands either laterally away from the target  or towards the target line when presenting the wrists . You want the distance to the ball to remain the same as when you take a traditional setup with a specific club. 

b. When one is first learning this drill , it is important to video your swing from a dtl view in order to make sure that you NOT turning your shoulders on too steep or too shallow a plane 

c.Although it makes the transition easier due to a simpler backswing, it still requires the proper lead pelvic/ hip and right elbow move in transition

I prefer the Monte NTC drill by setting the club rather in front of me (towards the forehead). For me, the Faldo drill transfers too much to an inside take away in my real swing.

Let’s get this thread going again. I haven’t read through all the posts but I finally realized, for myself, was that this preset drill puts your trail shoulder in external rotation to start so at the top it’s external. For someone who isn’t use to this position, it feels pretty amazing and changed a lot for me in the downswing and sequencing.

My input was that having the trail shoulder in external rotation at setup was key for me. What else would I be about?

No, But I have tried this drill numerous times with no success. Page 2 Bobalu says it's critical your lead upper arm stays connected to your torso and mine does not when I set my wrists. Also i'm a Hackmotion user so let's see what happens today.

If you do this drill and turn too flat you'll find it impossible to hit the ball... shank city.  This drill will tell you very quickly if the angle you turn on is an issue in your swing.

Sidenote:  I did not realize this thread was so old.  All of the comments about not being able to transition it to the full swing lead me to believe it may not be worth doing this drill.  Surely by now one of the original posters in this thread would've crossed the threshold for # of reps to ingrain it.  But nobody reported back with success 🤔
