Does the Idea Pro still hold up as the standard in Hybrids?

I have had the Original Idea Pro on and off since they came out, and tried everything in between. Do you still play one? If not why did you pull it out of your bag? What replaced it?

 

I have a 20* with an Accra XH105 sitting in my closet and it may just make an appearance again shortly.

just picked up a tour issue today with a YSQ HL in stiff, this is my third one to own I have 18* TI 20* regular and 23* regular. Great hybrids...

For me, the original IDP remains the standard. I own the 18-27*, but play the 18* and 20* as my gamers. I've considered moving to the a12 Pro, but really can't find fault in the IDP to make the change. For me, the trajectory is consistent, the distances are reliable and the size is just right.

Yes, I am referring to the original Idea Pro. I'll amend the title.

The original Idea Pro...the one that says "Prototype" on it, if that's the one you are mentioning, definitely is the gold standard as far as I'm concerned. Feels perfect, looks perfect, and flights the ball perfect.

I have an Adams Tour issue VST LSP that I purchased, just to try something new. If you look at that thread you will see some comparison pics I took.

I had gamed the original Idea Pro for last 7 years, but recently switched the the XTD. The XTD is quite a bit larger, but silly long and easy to hit. It was a hard transition at first, but now it is a no brainer.

I agree, I am EXTREMELY impatient with hybrids, I have turned them over quicker than any club I own. I am on 6+ years with my PRO. Outside of the new XTD series, I have yet to hit a longer hybrid.

THAT being said, the sole is alittle too flat for me, I could use one with alittle more curve to it. 1000% my swing issue. I would say the TEE XCG6 hybrids are the next one on my radar!

I played an idea pro from 2010 til last summer. They are great clubs. Great from any lie and and about the perfect size. They didn't go dead left on me like a lot of hybrids do. I really like them. That being said the i20 is the hybrid you should be gaming now!

I have been playing them for 5ish years and rotate 18, 20, 22 and love them. Recently placed an order for a 913hd 20*.

I can't comment on the OP's questions, but I've been testing every hybrid in the sun lately (haven't played one since my '05 RAC). I was sold on the Adams Super S last week (great club), but I finally hit the Cobra AMP Cell (3/4 and 4/5) yesterday and I was sold sold. I purchased the 4/5 on the spot.

I got rid of a 14* i got directly from AK himself. really should have kept it.....

Still play mine and havent found a suitable replacement for it yet.

Still rocking the OG pro. I have tried to replace it multiple times but just cant find anything better. I put a Fubuki AX 400 in it last year and its even better than before!

I started a thread awhile back about the club in each category by which all others are judged (i.e. 588 RTGs for wedges, TTDG for shafts, etc.) and we almost unianimously voted the original Idea Pro as the hybrid by which all others are judged. I still have mine in the bag!

The i20 is nice, but the thing is I already HAVE the Idea Pro.. kind of makes choices easier.

A12 Pro 20 and 23 with Matrix for me. Love them. Literally changed my long game - no fear at 200 yards and beyond anymore.

They stack up just as any current offering, in my opinion. I still have my 22° that I put in pretty often.

Been playing a 20* for about a year now. Best hybrid I've hit ever. Don't see a reason to change either but I might get it a friend - a pro black to replace my 4-iron.

Well I had two very promising range sessions with mine this week, so I'll bag it on friday. It's a little more iron like than the Hibore hybrid I have been bagging, meaning I can't swing it like a 7 wood, it needs to be treated like a 5 iron. Strong ball flight with the Accra.
