Anyone within 5-6 shots of the lead can get right into the thick of it with a good round today. Horshel seems very confident. Interesting comments in his interview. He doesn't pay attention to what other players are doing even when he's playing with a top 5 player (OWGR) and he doesn't look at leader boards.

Rory and Siem were the low rounds at -5, so yes, Rors seems to be getting his game in gear (good to see). Scary to think that he had a stretch of 3/4 holes where he burned edges on the putts too.

I'm pulling for Billy. He was almost at a mil earnings for this year before this tourney, so he's quietly having a nice year.

Anyway, he strikes me as the type that would be stoked to be in the Masters field. And yesterday, after the first four holes Horschel was dialed--he can easily be @-10 or so.

I'm surprised the networks haven't come up with some buzz term for the Saturday thrird round of these sort of tournaments where players can really make a move up the leaderboard with a good round to put them into contention for the final round.

What a story it would be for Marcel Siem to win this and get into the Masters after all. He won last week in Europe, thought that he had made the top 50 in the Wolrd rankings and qualified for the Masters but got denied by Henrik Stenson finishing T2nd in Houston and getting into the top 50 himself. Siem ended up 51st at the entry cut date, which left him only with the option of winning in San Antonio.

He was given a sponsor's exemption and flew over to try and get into Augusta. Very admirable of him!

once you get through the first 3-4 holes, this course just seems relentlessly difficult (until maybe #18)...cauley -4 early, now back to E on the day...this seems like a very stern test, and this is AFTER they supposedly made some changes this year to make the course easier

I thought he would have had to, because the previous Friday is the commit date for PGA events. Do they make exceptions for sponsors' exemptions?
