35.5" putter cut down to 32"

How much will the swing weight change? To get the swingweight back up will I have to add too much lead tape and make the putter sit too high off the ground?

You could add tungsten powder down the shaft. I have not done it, but some friends have, and it seems to work fine. To figure out how much tungsten powder to add, wrap lead tape around the shaft right at the top of the hosel. When the putter is at the point where it feels right, remove the lead tape and weigh it. After weighing that, remove it and put the shaft plug on the scale, and add the powder until it equals the weight of the lead tape you removed. Of course, if you change the grip in the process of weighting down the shaft, that will change again the way the putter weights and "feels", so re-use the grip, or if you have to replace it, use the same grip, so start with the grip you want.

Grip down 3-1/2" on the putter. Putt with it. That's pretty close to how it will feel after you cut it off. If that feels too light you'll want to add weight either to the putter head or down the shaft. How much weight depends on how much too light it feels.

Swingweight numbers on a putter do not track at all with swingweight numbers on the other clubs.

I thought about that but was afraid that I would have to add too much powder and it would change how the putter works since it's a toe weighted putter.

The problem with that is I have a Fatso on the end so it gets big time back weighted doing that and the head [i]becomes[/i] very light.

I cut my putters down to 31.5 or 32. A few inches of lead tape is all it takes. Just grab some lead, make the cut, and add lead tape until you feel comfortable with it. Its really simple. Don't worry about it at all

Yeah, a putter backweighted with a huge grip throws the swingweight scale right out the window.

Definitely think weighting down the shaft. It will not change the heel-toe balance of the putter much, although it may affect it slightly.

blow it off with air. If its stuck, you pour some mineral spirits into the hole/up the grip to loosen it first. I just saved an ultraslim using air and mineral spirits. It is a huge pain in the you know what.
