Ping g25 irons with c-taper

Anyone hitting this combo? Seems like it may be the best of both worlds; very easy to hit, yet brings the ball flight down.

In my experience putting c tapers in a game improvement head leads to super flyers occasionally. They are just so low spin that you tend to hit some rockets.

I bought my G25 irons over a month ago. Absolutely love them. I'm a huge KBS fan. I generally buy new irons every 1.5 to 2 yrs. It's been more like every 1 yr the last 3 years. I almost always use KBS tour or KBS C-tapers. I tried both along with dg's in the G25's. To my amazement, I hit the stock CFS shaft as far and as high as the KBS Tour and C-tapers. In fact the angle of descent on the G25's with stock CFS shaft was the best for me. I was hitting the CFS stock staft as far and with an greater angle of descent, which means that the ball was traveling in a more straight line downward to the green. I hit all variations of shafts for about 4 weeks. My fitter finally said to me that no matter how much I want the KBS's to be the shaft, the numbers don't lie. Just my two cents. I won't be trading out these irons for some time - absolutely love them.

I had the same result. I really wanted to like the C-tapers in my G25s but, as you said, the numbers don't lie. The CFS is a good shaft for my game.

I don't care what shafts you install, there is no way to flight down G-series Pings. They are a high trajectory design.

I have I20s with KBS Tours- regs. Friend has G25s with C-Tapers. Way to high, flyers from good lies and not really controllable Remember this is a GI club. Ping puts a lot of work into their stock shafts, for the most part, they are pretty darn good. I'd go to a demo day if you can. Agree with OPs. Try the stock shafts- R- tipped or regulars, stiff etc. FWIW.

Nonsense. I've never had a "flyer" from a good lie with a G-series club. Flyers are when grass gets into the grooves and the ball leaves the face with low spin. That phenomenon has nothing to do with GI clubs.

Can't speak to anybody else's experience but I have this combo, stiff shaft hard stepped once and I love em. It took me some time to get used to the heavier shaft weight compared to the cs lite shafts I was hitting in G5's prior but I absolutely love the combo. Still hits the ball very high with me being a high ball hitter but it doesn't balloon like the cs lite did and they are just ridiculously long, at least a club longer on a well struck shot now that I'm not ballooning anymore. Also, the feel at impact is better than any iron I've ever hit in my life, smooth but never feels like the shaft gets out of control when I get after one.

Not that exact combo, but wouldn't trade my C-Tapers for anything else right now.

I got 10+ rounds on mine already plus some range sessions. I've had no issues with the finish holding up. I was a little concerned at first because I wondered whether the finish would fade especially on the sole with use - I was concerned that the G25 would fade/mark like the Callaway X-24's (the gun metal colored ones). So far the G25's have not.

My G25's, and Gorge wedges, show wear on the finish. It doesn't look overly bad though. Not like the wear on a black oxide club for example. I suspect most people will be reasonably happy with the durability of the finish, but by design, the clubs will show more wear than clubs with a natural stainless finish.

It seems on paper the g25 with c-tapers would be the holy grail of irons. It seems so far a little mixed? I've hit the i20 with the CFS shafts and liked the combo. Wondering how much of a difference the CT would really make over the CFS?

I'm waiting on the G25s with the CFS shafts. I [i]expect[/i] I'll prefer the CFS in the G25s by a small margin -- but I'm not smart enough to tell you exactly why at this point.

I got some rocketbladez with some C-tapers as a gift this year, though I havent hit them yet, I wouldn't be surprised to go back to the G15's they are that good.

I have gone through many sets of irons over the past 3 years. I put together G15 w/c-tapers x flex ssx1 4-p and they are firmly in the bag. They have taken a bit to get used to but they are really working well for me. It does seem like the G Series heads and the C Tapers would "fight" each other but for me it is a combo that is working. Very stable and very straight.

While not c-tapers, I bought my G25s with DG's for the very reason you are thinking about it with c-tapers. So far I love the results, albeit a limited sample size (2 round). For years, I have been playing KBS or PX to help me get the ball up. Since the G25s are so easy to elevate, I'm able to go back to the old faithful Dynamic Golds. I think it is a good combination, I think the C-Tapers would also be a good combination for the right player.
