Looking good!

Would it be accurate to say that at impact, the hands are in front of the midline of the body, not in front of the right half? That is what I see from pro swings,(and yours). Otherwise, the hands can't get in front of the ball, and a stall and flip would ensue. I can see why swinging the arms faster would benefit many golfers, This is gold.... or bitcoin.

You are 100% accurate, for me anyway. Dan wants me to feel like I am swinging my hands past my left shoulder, so he had me take half swings back and then just swing my arms about 18 inches past impact with the hands closer to the target than my left shoulder, club head pointing at target line, hands well in front of the club head too, so there is a lot of shaft lean and the arms are past mid line on my left side. Now this is just a feel for me, and when I swing the shoulders rotate and the hands are actually more in front of me than left of midline, but the important part is they are definitely not right either. When my shoulders and body rotate too fast and my arms get behind me, that is where I have more issues on the downswing. Feeling like I am just swinging my arms down and forward fast keeps the arms the same speed as my shoulders and chest.

If you look at the before and afters, my shoulders are actually more open at impact when I feel like I am not turning my body at all and just swinging my arms faster. Feel vs real as usual. The shoulders will go with the arms if they are extended, they have to. It is a strange feeling for me, like it has less power just using my arms instead of my chest and shoulders and hips, but it is just a feeling. My clubhead speed was just as fast with the Flightscope when I feel like I just swing my arms.

I struggle with keeping my arms in front of me, impact ball really helped and Dan's aritcal that he wrote about making swings half way back and half way forward with both arms straight has helped.

This is how I have hit punch shots for years (since I get flippy if I try to make a half swing with a normal action.) I can't believe that it never occurred to me to stretch it out to a full swing.

I have received several PMs lately asking some questions about my changes. I hope it helps folks. That is why I posted to begin with, I wanted to help some people that might have similar issues or had traveled a similar path. I don't video my swing a lot anymore frankly because it hasn't changed much, and that is intentional. Now I have certain tendencies to track and keep in check, but Dan has built my swing to the point I feel like I own it and it is near or where I want it. That doesn't mean I shoot 65 every day, but the swing is capable of 65 on any given day which is what I wanted.

The last time I went to Dan in July, he said "this is going to be easy" and we didn't change much at all with the exception of my usual, "get your right shoulder over your left foot". I have a tendency to not turn far enough with my shoulders which means my arms hands and club are not deep enough.

I still use my straight right arm feeling, the feeling of stopping my arms chest high, and the feeling of firing my arms on the DS as fast as I can. Dan has me hitting it better than I ever have, I practice less, score lower, and have way more fun.

Right shoulder over your left foot.......Is that for the backswing and/or followthru?

I don’t mean to,speak for Heath, but I’m sure he means backswing. I have the same problem and this has worked great for me.

I visit my kids / grand kids in Orlando every winter for 10 - 14 days. I am going to look into spending a 1/2 day with Dan next winter. There are too many positive reviews for Dan & his lessons not to.

After browsing this thread yesterday I spent an hour hitting into a net trying to keep my trail arm straight. Felt pretty good. Now I am going to try the trail shoulder over lead foot.

Steve

Edit: In looking at videos of Dan's students it appears many have their rear end back behind their heels a bit and a fair amount of knee flex. Is that something he like in posture / set up?

Any help with curing a hook?

Dan would be way better at that than I. I hate a hook.

And yes, right shoulder over left foot is a backswing thought to help me get a bigger turn and keep my upper body over my lower body.
