Adam Scott projections

AS is good. I predict 5 to 7 more pga wins and I don't see another major for him. he won but had several huge breaks. Day choked, AS shorted his approaches on 13 and 15 crucial and only the rain stopped him from 2 wet balls and no chance to win. Cabrera missed chip on 18 in the first playoff hole.

he will have a good career and he is a good lucking guy but his short game and putter will betray him in the near future.

Berhard Langer has 40 Euro wins, 3 PGA Tour wins and 2 Majors
Phil Mickelson has 41 PGA Tour wins, 1 Euro Tour win and 4 Majors

Pretty comparable by your standards but I have never heard Langer mentioned in the same breath as Phil.
But Ernie is often mentioned in the same breath as Phil.

Again just huge WHAT IF's for a guy who's been a multiple winner in one year of his career.
If you ignore Euro victories.
Of course its huge what ifs... that's the point. Re-read the original post. There's more than one estimate in there.
What if he turns into Mike Weir?? They have very very similar PGA careers at the same age, Mike won his Masters at 33, had won a WGC before, Tour Championship as well, had some heartbreak in previous Majors....
I wouldn't call 9 wins (including masters and players) "very very similar" to 6 wins (including masters but no players).
And again, you're ignoring Euro tour wins. Overall, I'd say Weir's career at 32 was about half of Scott's today.

Sure, its possible we never hear from Adam Scott again. But I omitted that possibility from the discussion, figuring it was implicitly obvious.

You guys are all working way too hard. Just go back and get the posts from a year ago about Bubba's glowing future, and stick Adam's name in them.
Come now, you know that's not a good comparison. Adam has been a consistent 1 or 2 wins per year guy for a long time, with something like four and half years' worth of time in the top ten.

I don't know if he can approach Phil/Vijay/Ernie status, unlikely but not impossible. Remember he's very talented and you have to bet this will do wonders for his confidence. But 18 major tour wins and a major is something very few people can say, let alone a 32 year old with a lot of time left at a high level

He's a fine player, but before yesterday, I would have ranked Sergio ahead of him. Sergio has more pro wins, and twice as many top tens in majors.

Yeah, he's better than Bubba. But that didn't stop people from predicting five or six majors for Bubba last year. It just seems that everybody who wins a major is suddenly the next Hogan (in fact they used those exact words to describe Oostie after he won the Open), and it is mathematically impossible for every major winner to win five or six more majors, when there's only been one repeat winner in the last few years.

his putting is ranked 100+ on tour, so it's amazing he plays or ranks as well as he does imo. it demonstrates his ball striking ability is one of the best. unless he can improve his putting, it will be tough. i don't think the Masters win will be a springboard to several majors, but he seems to be doing well the last year in bigger events.

Yeah but I don't really see Adam Scott going all Bubba-golf on the talk show circuit, buying up Crocodile Dundee's vehicle and going completely nuts, though.

a couple of outdated hybrids
shovel-ier shovels
wedges from same shovel company
some putter with a dead insert and

I think he borders on horrid with it as well, almost every player with a pga tour card putts better statistically. I don't think it's a stroke thing, but an inability to read greens well personally, and at this point it's almost mental as well.

Personally i see adam going either 2 ways. Continue standard of his career to date and finish with 15 wins and possibly 1 more major or really taking to next level and 6 majors and 25+ pgatour wins.i feel like monkey is off back and him growing with confidence long putter or not. Of course im biased as im an aussie! The putts he holed on 18 and 10 will be huge for his career imo.

I hope for the later of the two, because he seems like a nice guy, but if you can't putt, you can't win at that level. I hope that he gains a lot more confidence in his putting with those clutch putts he made on Sunday.

I can definitely see Adam winning 1-2 more majors. He's always had the game and now he has the belief to do it. Don't underestimate the 'belief' factor. Guys that have come close in the past but seemingly don't get the job done in majors, lack the 'belief' factor.

Another Masters and an Open are very likely in the next 2 years. Add to that 5 more 'regular' PGA wins in the next 4-5 years. I don't think he's the type of player that will win 3 times in a season.

6 MAJORS!!!! Holy mother of god let's just crown the guy the new Tiger Woods!!!

Nick Faldo, Lee Trevino, Bobby Jones, Gene Sarazen, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Sam Snead, Gary Player, Walter Hagen, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods are the men who have won 6 majors or more in golf history...

That's not next level, that's the immortal level. There is no way you just get to that level after being a mediocre player for 10 years of your career!

They don't just hand over Majors...he's going to have to deal with Tiger Woods for the next 5 years minimum, Rory McIlroy entering his prime, a ton of young talent from Europe and the USA, guys like Rose, Poulter, Snedeker, Day, Haas, Kucher, Johnson, Bradley, Schwartzel, Oosthuizen, Watson and others who are all also in that "prime" of their career and have either won or been very close to winning majors.

When Tiger dominated look who he was up against compared to what guys have to deal with today...It's a different ball game and it's almost impossible for one player to dominate enough to win 6 majors.

The ONLY current player I see winning 6+ is Rory, and I think that could possibly take a while to get to.

I think he can take this as far as he wants to...within reason of course. If he really wants to grind I don't see why he can't get to the next level. That being said he doesn't play a full schedule and he seems pretty well rounded with other interests...which isn't a bad thing. Tee to green he's soooo solid.

Time will tell...

I believe this will be huge for AS and it will propel him to at least 1-2 more majors. His swing seems never to be in question and he showed some pretty gutty putting at the 18th and the 10th. I have always liked him but also thought he may never achieve his potential simply because I didn't know if he would allow himself to win the big one. Now that he has I think he has all the tools to do it again. I like him at the Open again although picking any one player for an event runs against common sense.

Adam Scott had the weight of a nation on his shoulders prior to this win - as evidenced by his "come on Aussie!" cheer on the 18th green.

I actual would be very suprised if he didn't kick on a lift his career to a higher level over the next decade. What is a higher level - proabably enough to get into the hall of fame.

He is an international player like Ernie Els, playing in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia. He is almost a part time player on the PGA tour with 16-17 events a year in recent times so this number over time will be lower than if he dedicated himself full time to the US.

His career stats in the big events have him well behind someone like Sergio, however in the last 9 majors he has been top ten 5 times and in the last 9 WGC events he has been top ten 5 times as well. He stated a few years ago that his focus was moving to the big events and clearly that is paying off.

Golfwrx is the home of outrageous predictions - last year by people who will remain anonymous Patrick Cantlay to win 20+ times on the PGA Tour - a tour for which he is yet to qualify for - but I digress... I don't think it would be outrageous to see Scott have a career like a fellow international player Nick Price. 3 majors, 15 PGA Tour wins and plenty of others worldwide. He has a decade of prime golf to come.

IIRC, Adam was having a very rough time with the conventional putter, that's why he switched to the broomstick quite a few years ago. He seems like a genuine nice guy and I think The Masters will give him huge boost in confidence for the foreseeable future. He will still be able to use the broomstick if they ban anchoring, he'll just have to be careful to not have his upper hand touch his chest. I think a guy at his level could transition back the a conventional putter with proper coaching and a lot of practice. Have they actually made the final decision on the ban? With the PGA of America and the PGA Tour opposing the ban, it kind of put the USGA in a tough spot.

I believe Adam will have a very successful career with a lot more wins and probably more majors.

As an Aussie I cant be prouder of his efforst at Augusta

I'm 42

I have seen Greg Norman go so close so many times and have seen how our guys have falllen just short

His shout at 18 of "C'mon Aussie C'mon" had me fist pumping and shouting in my loungeroom at 5am in Australia I woke up half the street .....LOL

Ok projections....sorry for the aussie indulgence but this tournament has caused me so much grief aftwer Norman kept losiing our nation was scarre forever.....BUT the scars have now no suddenly healed overnight

He can win more majors - yes he can. His swing we know is pure.

as he a great driver of the ball , his iron play is equal of anyone. Putting wise - he still got improvement and I think he will win atleat 4 majors by the times he's done

He's 32.

I think the confidence he gets from this win will serve him well when he goes back to a short putter and he'll do just fine.

Also, he'll remain the most handsome guy on tour.

He is quite handsome which makes me wonder....have we ever seen him with a woman...............? Maybe he just keeps his private social life very very private as he should.

With the pogo stick he will do well. More majors probably. But without it, not too sure.

As a pretty good putter myself, I cannot understand how a guy with a precision swing like that, world class facilities to hone the game, and all day to work on it cannot make ANY putter work.

I say chances are good that he does fine with the conventional putter but there is a reasonable chance that he goes back to also-ran without that trusty pole.

10 more lifetime pga tour wins

15 more lifetime epga, sunshine tour, apga type wins

Bingo!
I believe you are spot on with this observation. Eg. Last hole he thought line was one cup to right and caddie said 'at least two'
I also noticed during game the Caddy had a strong input in club selection and where to land the ball.
So how important is the caddy?
