Joe,

Rumor has it, fourteen is still a Japan brand but now has send all their clubs to China to make their products.

Are Fourteen irons forged from a Chinese foundry? I previously thought all Fourtween clubs were Endo forged but not anymore.
Not for a couple years at least. The TC510/710/910 are all Chinese forgings

OK, Here we go again!

I hope this will clear it up about rumors stuff.

Now a days Who doesn't forged club in CHINA.....90% if i have to guess are forged in CHINA.

Some FOURTEEN heads forged in China and some ENDO Thailand. ENDO JAPAN HAS BEEN OUT OF FORGING HEAD IN A FEW YEARS BY NOW.

Lots of reasons why China forging is favorable (cost effective 1 of the biggest reason). People THINK China forging is bad....NO IS NOT! At the end of the day is what the OEM wants to pay and how they want to work. CHINA factory can make anything you want at any quality customers trying to fit into their market. THE BIGGEST Different is QUALITY CONTROL. Every single head of FOURTEEN club has to passed QC...versus others 1:1000 (maybe). Imagine how many % of cost goes to the QC personnel.

There are NO MORE big forging factory in JAPAN now and they haven't up grade their forging machine in ages...versus CHINA's factory has been investing on newer modern machines to catch up with their orders.

ONLY 3 big players forging factories in CHINA which handle about 90% of ALL OEMs order. Some brands have their own private space (Fourteen 1 of them at least that i know of) and they controlled their own QC.

mixedbag,
FYI, That is not a stock shaft and I can't tell you because i never hit nor i know the specs.

I've cleared this info before i post this.

Cheers!

Thanks for the clear up Joe! To hear it from a real professional is very refreshing and further confirms my belief that many people are misguided about forging houses in China. I don't understand why many still believe that no one does quality forging outside of Japan. Time to move on people!

Back to the topic, I love fourteen clubs. Played with the TC530 irons for a few rounds. They felt soft and forgiving. i am always curious about their wedges. If I ever travel to the SF area, I would love to visit Joe and build me some fourteen wedges!

Could you share your experience on working with fourteen wedges? Thanks!

You can't go wrong with their wedges. They are the strongest selling wedges in ASIA at least from the last time I've checked. Very tight tolerance and definitely one of the best lofts and bounce choices.

I recommend quite a bit to people who are willing to spend a little more to get a good quality Japanese wedge that WORKS on the course!

Let's talk a bit about FH1000 through my observation hitting and working on them.

For you blade lovers....this is it!

Clean simple classic looking blade with all the technology and quality.

Soft carbon steel forged with nickel chrome satin finish without a ton of stamping to ruin the clean look. More weight on the high spot to increase COG for better ball flight control.

Will it look thick on the top line? NO....if you look at the picture, the master grinder was able to bevel the top line and hide that from address position. That's the sign of a master grinder who know what he was doing to help the designer and engineer achieve what the club should LOOK and PERFORM.

In result....OUT STANDING DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE.

Note: pictures was added on first post....

Enjoy it!

One of the best looking blades I have ever seen or hit and I have seen more than my share. From the absolute quality brush satin finish to the better satin finish on the face. It is hard to explain the quality in words. Over the years I have held and seen many of the best built heads and there is a distinct difference between the mass produced heads and those heads that have been made by smaller houses in Japan. When you get a set that is made by one of these special houses you can see it in the finish. You can see it in the grinds.... you can see it in the grooves. Hell you can feel it in the hit.

Here is a cool article Zak wrote about Rusty the tour tech with Fourteen Golf... http://www.golfwrx.c...fs-rusty-estes/

These heads have one of the best grinds I have ever seen. The top line on the back side has this great grind you can see in the pics. Jewelry... just works of art. Here are some pics of the grinds I am talking about... PURE! ....

Joe, do you happen to know how the FH1000 compare in size, offset etc. to the Mizuno MP-68s?
Size is not that far different, Fourteen has less offset for sure. I can tell Fourteen has slight softer feel and fourteen less diggy due to sole design and shape.
