It's confusing. I think right now she'd be #8 on the money list. She turns 18 next November 23rd. I'm sorry, but it seems rather convoluted to me. She's playing great golf. I don't see why she doesn't have privileges right now: more than $400,000 in earnings? Four top four finishes in four tournaments?

Seems weird.

It is weird. She's a top 5 player right now but has to Monday qualify every week.

Let's be honest here. If she was white and American her full status would be fast tracked by now.

I was wondering the same thing.

Well, if Thai pro lady golfers founded an LPGA-equivalent or better then they would be free to be biased towards their own. As long as LPGA is, in its core, an American organization it's to be expected that Lexi's of this world are fast-tracked while Aria's aren't.

Think about it, you're selling LPGA sponsorship to an American company, then which ProAm group is more compelling to the fat corporate cats? One with Ariya or one with Lexi?

Lexi might have played a role in Whan's decision to deny Ariya. Even though Lexi has won, and enjoyed some success, there have been rocky emotional stretches when it looks like she shouldn't be out there. Last year she shanked a shot, then hit another terrible shot from the side of a hill, and was running around out of control. She told her caddie she felt like leaving the course. This was televised. There have been many instances when Lexi has been on the verge of tears on 18 after a horrible round.

The expectations at that age can be quite a burden. I can guarantee Whan doesn't second guess his decision on Ariya, regardless of her results. The Keystone Cop meltdown on 18 a few months ago was something you'd never see from a more mature player. I've certainly never seen it, a triple on a hazardless par 5 to lose by 1, while rushing every shot.

I'm still waiting for that half hour Golf Channel masterpiece, Brian Skatell's greatest hits mixed with Ariya Jutanugarn tripling 18.

^^ Agreed and that kind of logic has me coming around to the thinking that Lydia wont get in next year.

Have to wonder if Aryia has any intention of going back to Europe this year? The LET has three events this month and it looks like she will not attend any. She could easily tag along with Sis and try Monday Qual's on the LPGA every week I guess but it would be a bit of poor form if she shuns the LET after getting into thier Q school.

It's not going to matter in a couple of years anyway when the LPGA won't be able to prevent Ariya and Lydia from getting in. The new powerhouse young golfers won't be from America. The Asians continue to work on their putting while the Americans continue to shop, tweet, and style their hair.

From a business standpoint, having the stongest women's tour in Asia makes sense. Japan, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and China.

After Lexi's shanks on #17 in 2012 Safeway, she came to the CN CWO.
I saw her shank a chip during practice and sheepishly grinned it off.
After a 3 putt bogey on a par 5.....Lexi walked off the green to the next hole....slapping her back with her putter and was trying to hold back the tears....I really felt for her. Scott and Judy were 40 yards already ahead to the next hole.

There is a very long walk from the 6th hole to 7th tee that is roped off to fans....there was a washroom.
It took her a while to show up to the tee and all this time Greg Johnson never once looked back to show any concerns.
Even b4 this incident I always thought Greg was not the right caddie for Lexi...he seems very aloof.

Maybe Scott should have stayed on her bag last year and this year b4 handing it off to another. Scott wanted to help Nicholas last year.
Scott & Judy seem like g8 parents and are very approachable.

I know, I know....no crying in the big leagues.
I think Lexi puts a lot of pressure on herself based on her own expectations and the sponsorship from Puma/Cobra & Red Bull.

On the flipside.......Jesse Korda is very young and acts kinda goofy...but seems to have a mature golf head....I think she manages her golf objectives well and plays generally in good spirits. Jesse also shows maturity to travel on her own.

Seems like Jesse, Kang, Lizette & Jodi Hyphen and other young pros are gal pals and have fun on tour.

Agree about playing on the LET....I'm sure IMG is providing Ariya the right guidance with respect to where to play.
It's the family aspect that is like keeping Ariya from playing the LET....the more success she has on Monday qualifying...the greater the probability she won't be playing the LET.

I believe Ariya as a non member......a total of 6 LPGA sponsor invites....I think shes now at 5????

The Asians luv women's golf....The women obtain more support than the male pros in Korea,

The US gals are falling further behind....look at the top 10 women Am's.....only 2 US gals.....not the case for the men Am's.

Got this info from a member on another site.

As has been pointed out elsewhere she turns 18 after this season concludes so age won't be an issue should she wish to join the Tour next year. If she wins an event this year she would be wise to wait until next year to join, when she would be placed in Category 7 on the Priority List (where So Yeon and Lexi were last year) and have a crack at her own Rookie of the Year award (which her sister Moriya is leading this year). If she doesn't win an event but racks up enough money to place above the 40th player on the Money List at season's end she will be placed in Category 10 for 2014. In both cases she would bypass Q-school and no age waiver would be necessary.

The uncertainty lies in what would happen if she were to win this year and she were to petition for an age waiver to join right away, but that would have to happen before, say, the halfway point of the season at the latest. If she were to win after that she again would be better off waiting until 2014 to join and unlike Lexi she would not need to file a petition for a waiver in that scenario since she turns 18 during the offseason.

It is all very confusing, I'm sure I read somewhere that a non-memeber can Monday Qual as often as they like but I've also seen the 6 event limit written so not sure. Maybe the 6 event limit is for am's?

I think the 6 invites and Monday qualifiers are mutually exclusive.....so I think Ariya can Monday qualify in as many events outside of the 6 event rule.
I believe either in 2011 or 2012...the LPGA updated a rule and allowed for members and non-members to Monday qualify w/o restrictions.

Does anyone think Ariya's IMG agent will call her on the 16th hole and advise a W/D if she approaching 88?......lol...I think this rule still exists for non-members.

By the way, if she has a top 10 finish, does she still need to play a Monday qualifier, or does she automatically get into the next tournament like the PGA Tour?
I believe non-members don't get that lattitude.
I believe the LPGA doesn't have a top 10 rule for members or non-members.

We need an LPGA expert member so we can get answers cause we are too lazy to do internet research for answers.....lol.

more info

The Priority List is finalized on 15 December of each year, and Ariya turns 18 before then. From the four events she's contested thus far (3 sponsor exemptions and "Monday" - actually Sunday - qualifying into Hawai'i) she's earned $404,970, which is more than all but four current members of the Tour. She's been granted a fourth (of a maximum six) sponsor exemption in Mobile next week, so with that along with the three majors she's assured of playing she should easily achieve the criteria for inclusion in Category 10 in 2014.

With regards to your point about Q-school: final stage is scheduled for 4-8 December, after Ariya's 18th birthday.
