Hitting golf balls without shoes...

I have problems with golfshoes and my feet are wide and toes feel crowded. I have tried all types of golf shoes . My latest adventure was with barefoot B.E.R.B.S. The BERBS are good shoes not as great as advertised. Yesterday I decided to hit the ball barefoot in the evening . The grass was beautiful with few sprinkles and it was the best ball striking range session . First my weight at address was perfect .My balance was very good and the sole felt cold and almost had a soothing efffect on my body in general.

I had developed a funky left foot implant move on downswing due to a bad pair of shoes. I clearly failed to notice it until my buddy videotaped my swing .

I am working on fixing this compensation. I realized when I hit balls barefeet there is no compensation and the left feet balance is perfect .

I would recommend people with flatfoot and those who struggle with balance to try this ...

Any thoughts.....

Its great if your course lets you do this. It keeps your core dead still and keeps you from over swinging.

Can't remember who but one of the players at the Pebble Beach pro am was playing with no shoes.

Yes, it's awesome plus it feels great in the summer! My only problem was a different swing. I'm a noticeable amount shorter without shoes than with, so I have to remind myself not to focus so much on the outcome, rather the balance within my swing.

I wear croc golf shoes...same thing as almost no shoe.. My footwork always looks the best with the crocs...with golf shoes...I over run my turn and have more of a pronounced goat hump..

Vibram 5 fingers or new balance minimum.

Im still waiting on a spike pattern that works. Everything on the minimalist market is pretty bland in that aspect.

Why not find a good pair of running shoes that fit good and have the cross trainer style of sole for grip

Man, I did this and got a severe case of sesamoiditis.
Rolling off of that instep with force can be a bad thing barefoot, especially if your arches are high.

Mr. Snead recommended this tip for balance. The man had fantastic footwork and great swing. Thank you for bringing this up again. I will give it a go on my next session.

Have you tried the Adidas PureMotion? Fairly wide toe bed and are a "barefoot" style shoe. Keep you "low to the ground". Better traction than True Tours though.

inspired by this thread, i went out last night and played with nice running shoes

great hitting and great feel on many many good shots ........... only downside was my backfoot slipped quite a bit

i see someone above suggesting adidas puremotion. any other golf shoes with alot of freedom of movement?

i would also mention that my feet weren't sore at the end of the round, which invariably they are with any golf shoes i've used
