taking recommendations for a travel bag

How often do you expect to travel? I went through several cheap travel bags until I finally got smart and purchased a Club Glove Last Bag, which is built like a tank. It's a bit out of your price range, but it's worth the extra money if you'll use it a few times a year.

Regardless of what bag you get, if you get a soft-sided bag, pick up a Club Glove Stiff Arm. It'll save you the hassle of replacing your broken driver when the airline goons drop your bag from the belly of the aircraft to the tarmac below. Trust me, I've seen them do this on several occasions.

Ping collapsible is a goooood one, very maneuverable in the airport as well.

I get more satisfaction watching my egg chasing brothers wrangle their coffins into airports and cars.

I highly recommend this travel bag.

I've been traveling for work on a weekly basis and take my clubs for something to do in the evenings. I got a Caddy Daddy for $80 or so and picked up a stiff arm with it. The problem is the bag is on the small side. I have a SC C130 bag. It is a tight fit. Have to work a bit to get the driver head to clear the zipper. It's bee sturdy enough so far after about 5 trips. But a pain to get the clubs in. Was thinking a getting a last bag or a club glider.

The other thing I hate is the weight if the bag once loaded. This is not a Caddy Daddy issue, just the nature of lugging a wheeled bag through the airport. Every stop I'm either laying the bag down or standing it up.

On my last trip I was in Chicago for a couple of days and ran into a great deal on a club glider journey at Golf Galaxy. $144 with tax, couldn't pass it up. I don't take my first trip with it until tomorrow, but I can already say that this is what I should have done all alone. My C130 fits easily, and I know I'm going to love the roller legs. They are much smoother than I expected. The storage is not as nice as the Caddy Daddy, but I only carry my shoes anyway so don't need the extra storage.

One of the nice things about the Club Glove Last Bag is that the nylon handle is big enough to loop around the pull handle on most rolling suitcases. With the Last Bag attached to the suitcase in this manner, the two can be pulled together. It kind of looks like a semi-truck, and the Last Bag will stay off the floor when you let go of the suitcase handle.

Are you referring to the red strap? If so, that's simply a suitcase tie down strap with a TSA-approved lock to (hopefully) prevent the airline baggage handlers from rifling through my suitcase. When I went through the process of buying a travel bag, I knew the Club Glove bags were the gold standard. At the time though, Bed Bath and Beyond (of all places) were clearing out Ogio travel bags at CRACKHEAD prices - I think mine was $40 shipped?! At any rate, I added a stiff arm, wrap the club heads in towels, and pull my driver head and pack separately.

I've been totally happy with that combo to date (at least 10 trips, some international). The bag is similar to this one:

That's worth repeating. It's amazing how small some trunks are on the new cars. I basically have to get a full-sized rental, and even then it can be a tight fit in the trunk with my suitcase, golf clubs, and Last Bag (folded in half). I can't imagine trying to wedge a full-length hard case into the trunk.

In a few cases I've arrived on a late flight, and all the full-sized cars were gone, and I had to take whatever they had available. I remember arriving late in Houston Lobby during a heavy rain, and trying to jam my clubs and travel bag into the back seat of a Nissan Altima Coupe, as the trunk wouldn't hold the clubs.
