I hope you get blue skies too. Haven't seen many of those in Missoula with all the smoke, and I fear it is going to get way worse before it gets better.

Bluejack National - Montgomery, TX (TGR Design)

Bluejack is an awesome experience if you are staying the night on site and playing multiple days. Did you get to play the lighted par 3 all night long? Strictly as a golf course many of the holes sort of run together and are not memorable, but the wall to wall fairway with no rough is something most people will never experience anywhere else and the smoked brisket and sausages at the snack shed in the middle of the round are amazing. Fantastic experience with a good course that is lots of fun to play.

A buddy of mine from Michigan was able to get us on there and I am eternally grateful. Honestly the closest I feel like I will get to playing ANGC. We only had one round (I live in Houston) but stayed there until 10pm - looped Playgrounds four times I believe. The overall experience was incredible. I've been to Bandon and Pinehurst; the staff and experience at BJN rivaled both. The fairways were carpet and greens rolling incredibly good. 12 the par 3 is one of my favorite holes I've played. I regret not going back out and looping another round, but feel like we took full advantage being there only one day. I sure made a dent in the pro shop 😉

Haha! There were a few members in carts that we let play through on the front 9, but we really had the course to ourselves. Very very exclusive community / country club. We took a caddie and walked. On the first tee the starter announces your name, where you're from / home club, and gives you a round of applause. There's a few other traditions that TW put in place out there, it's truly an incredible environment. Course is A++.

I once had the same experience at Riviera CC.  That was something too.  Glad you enjoyed the round.

Cog Hill #4 (Dubsdread), Lemont, IL. The course hosted the Western Open for years, as well as the earliest editions of the BMW Championship.

Dubs is my 2nd favorite public course in Chicagoland. 'Just behind The Glen Club. It's very pricey, so I don't play it often these days. The Glen Club has decent late fall rates, but Dubs is the same price year around. Nationally I don't think it would rank in my top 50 though.

 

It's a solid, no-nonsense layout with tough bunkering. 'Play the right tees, and have a good day ballstriking, and you can score. OTOH, you put the ball in the fairway bunkers, deep greenside bunkers, or wrong section of the greens, and it can be a challenging day. It was good enough to host the PGA for decades, and it's still a challenge.

Its round $160 right?  Some friends in Chicago say  the same for the fee.

They use a dynamic pricing model. Weekday rates are generally $142 to $155. Peak rates on the weekend are $155 to $164.

 

I consider it a must play at least once if you're coming in from out of town. Yeah, it's pricey, but it's not in the stratosphere like a TPC Sawgrass or Karsten Creek. Not too many courses that have hosted a PGA event are cheap other than TPC Deere Run. Harding Park cost me $175 as an out of towner, and I'd certainly play Cog Hill over it.
