Bamburgh Castle golf club on Monday 9th Aug.

arriving at St Andrews on the 10th.

the clouds just before the thunder and massive cloudburst that completely soaked us all on the Jubilee course.

 

then onto the main event, on the 11th Aug, another wet day on The Old Course, but somehow the sun came out at just the right time to make the walk up 18 even more magical.

18, 16, and 10 at RCCC? I want to go back so bad. Going for the green in 2 on 10 and juuuuust missing in the longest right bunker is one of the most memorable shots I've ever played.

Dead on.   Excellent course and the condition were fantastic.    The smoke was pretty bad so to make the photos look decent I set it for night mode to add in light. Gives an idea how much smoke there was at times.   Still well worth the trip

A few of those tee shots look very tight

Played The Jewel in Lake City, MN on 8/29.  Was lucky enough to go out in the morning alone and had the whole place to myself.

The Preserve at Oak Meadows, Addison, IL. I had time to kill this lovely morning, so I took a number of photos of the surrounding wetlands. The course was renovated a few years ago to address the flooding issues with the creek that runs through the course. They combined the land from the old Oak Meadows GC and the adjacent 9 hole course, and created a single championship course with expanded holding areas for the creek. On a nice day it's a wonderful place to walk and take in the native plant and animal life.

My brother lives up in Halifax.  With the Canadian border finally re-opening (at least for now), I thought I should take the opportunity to get up that way and see him and his family before they shut the borders back down.  We spent most of the time just around Halifax (lots of rain), but for two magical days, we drove northwest and played Bell Bay and Cabot Cliffs.

Bell Bay was a lovely course.  We had sunny skies but 30+mph winds.  It was a rough day.  I haven't pulled pictures from Bell Bay yet to share.  

 

The next day we drove from Baddeck over to Inverness and played Cabot Cliffs.  If this course isn't on your bucket list it should be.

Weather - perfect - sunny, no clouds, 70 degrees, 10mph winds off the ocean.

Players - just me and my brother.  The twosome that was supposed to join us was late to the 1st tee and our caddy said "Let's go!" and we did.  PERFECT.

Caddy - Ask for Wesley.  He was awesome.

Course - I've played a lot of places, more than some, less than others, and I've never stepped foot on a course as nice as Cabot Cliffs.  From tee to green, the course was immaculate.

I could murder you with pics.  The pace of play was perfect.  We walked casually and still finished in 4 hours and 10 minutes.  Never really saw the group in front of us and never saw the group behind us.  It was almost like we had the course to ourselves.  I think I took around 70 pics during the round.  Here is just a few.

I went out for a round this past Sunday at what qualifies as my "home course." It's a short, par 70 muni that I think is a ton of fun. Didn't have the best round, but it was a beautiful afternoon and I had a great time.

 

It was also achingly slow, so I had the time to snap a few photos. Enjoy!

Pelican South.  Like North, it is in better than excellent condition.  Overall layout is much easier than North but I found greens were trickier than North.
