Thanks guys, and yes the ball is fading. I could care less if it ever goes right to left ever again, but it does make some of the dogleg lefts a little harder off the tee, can't hit driver.
do u have a couple of long dogleg lefts on your home track? surely a little easy hybrid out there about 290 would do? :D

There is one hole that is a sharp dogleg left and normally I can't hit driver anyway because it is so sharp. It is a short hole, 335 and I used to hit hybrid up over a huge tree and turn it over, that is the ideal shot. If the hyrbid doesn't turn over it is through the fairway into the trees and dead. I have to hit 4 iron now and then I am left with a blind uphill shot with anywhere from 9 to 7 iron. I do wish I could hit the high draw with the hybrid on that particular hole and then if you pull it off you are left with 75 yards looking right down the stick. Other than that hole, I can still hit the fade on the dogleg lefts, I just aim at the edge of the trees and go over the corner with a fade.
Sounds like quite a tough shot to pull off on the best of days, having a 7 to 9 in isn't too bad, all be it a blind shot, better that than in the trees :D

Looking good, hstead. What are your troubles on the course, swing or course management related?
My main on course issues are the two demons that scream at each other in my head when I miss the green. My confidence in my short game blows right now. The thing that really sucks is practicing it is almost useless because I can stand on the practice green and get it up and down from the ball washer, but as soon as I have some money on the line on the course I can't hit a standard chip shot close enough to get up and down. so if I miss a green it is bogey right now. Driving me crazy.
What happens that you can't hit a standard chip? Do you thin it a bit, hit it fat, do you flinch? What's up?

Maybe you need some more lead tape so you can just drop it on the ball and pop it towards the hole. :pimp:

I can relate to u there, I have a very similar situation with pitching. on a practice green fine, on a course constantly under hit it and leave it way short

Most of the time on a chip I hit the gas or a nerve one and fire it way too far. The biggest problem is when I think anything mechanical at all. I have to think about the ball and where I want to land it and that's it.

I have practiced a million different ways. Most of the time I use two balls and hit to two different holes from a spot. Retrieve those two balls and hit to two different holes from another spot. I switch clubs about every 15 minutes. After a while of using two balls I switch to one ball and just move around the green hitting different shots to different holes. That is the most frustrating part, it is 100% between my ears. I can feel that I get tighter when it counts. Sometimes I can relax and focus on the ball and sometimes I have a bad thought before I play the shot and it results in a bad shot every time.
Try to add some pressure to your practice, when you move to your 1 ball practise set a target eg. '15' up and downs in a row and you can't leave till you hit your target, increase the number as necessary for your skill level. Should start to feel a the nerves once you get to the last few

Great progress Hstead. Extension on the backswing and follow through are things I work on as well and aren't easy. But I know it's important for shoulder roatation so I work on it. Man does it feel weird though right?

I meant it as a compliment. :D

She is not allowed to make full swings yet. You are working on the same thing she is in a way. Dan said he didn't care what her back swing looked like as long as she extended through the ball and finished like what you are doing. There is no way that you are "dinking" it like her.

ETA: He said that he liked that she tries to swing fast and hit it hard. He's just teaching her how to score from the outset.

Your swing is looking great.

It is funny, maybe more sad than funny, but the drill you are working on is the only swing I can use on the course. Especially with the driver. I am in my own head so much at this point with my full swing that I cannot get off the tee at all unless I use an abbreviated straight arm swing.

IMHO, I strongly feel this is how you should start beginners off. I see on many local ranges pros talking beginners' ears off and getting them to do a full swing from the outset, not forcing them to take shorter swings as DC is recommending.

I pretty much played with this swing today with the exception of the driver. I take one extra club and just hit half shots is what it feels like. Had it 3 under with 4 to go and three putted a par 3 from 35 feet, then short sided myself pin high twice and our greens are so hard and fast right now there is no getting it close from the wrong side. Finished even. Need to work on the putter more.
Sounds like you're getting close! How's the confidence in the chipping going?

Pitching and chipping is much better, I figured out I was not taking the club back far enough on some shots and that fixed everything. My swing was just too short and quick. I lengthened it and that was all it needed. I hit some good flops today but with the greens and where I put it three times 15 feet was about as good as I could do and missed them all. With the slope, speed, and firmness right now you just cannot leave yourself in the wrong spots.
Good to hear pal. Yeah sometimes 15 feet is as good as u can do when u short side yourself.

Looks good man. Sorry to hear about your son. Just wondering, did dan tell you to extend to the target more? I would think your full extension would be more like 3/4 of the way to the target. Meaning if your goal was this....

The extension to the target would happen through momentum anyway. Do you ever feel like you are kinda wiping it?

H, swing looks good. I have had several messages back and forth with you about drivers and shafts and it's good to confirm via video that you have the game to support your knowledge of products.

I've had one online lesson with Dan and will probably do a few more but really wish I could get down to see him. Just not in the cards at the moment.

Heath,
Top of the swing looks good. You have always been a little across the line at the top. I wondered if he would ever change that part. I have noticed lately Dan's videos he has the alignment rod sticking out of the ground. What is he using that for?
