View on the 'For Sale' Forum

I look in the for sale forum everyday and Never look at the pinned ads.

 

Does anybody else pass on them?

I skip past them every time. The only way ill look at them is if I do a search and it happens to be one of them, or if im scrolling past them and some key word catches my eye.

I also skip past titles that dont have products listed in them.

I skip them as well. It seems like only 1 or so is added a day so I fell like there isn't a need to see them as the are old.

I skip over them too. It's usually stuff being sold by better players and that equipment would do me no good!

I also hate the ads with titles that try to be funny. Just tell me what you have for sale. No need to entertain me.

no - this thread pops up every now and then...apparently pinned ads are evil and those who skip them are savvy shoppers.

Listen - pinned ads bring this site money, that's a good thing.

Pinned ads happen for a number of reasons...and all are valid, even those that overpriced their items initially...if they pay to pin their ads they are most likely motivated and their stuff will sell...

Skip over them, who really cares? Seems odd to me that anyone really needs forum confirmation for this action.

I skip over them because there's a good chance I already looked at them and decided there was nothing I wanted. But I do give them a quick glance every once in a while.

On a slightly related note, Does anyone else feel like stuff isn't selling as well as it used to hence the influx of Pinned Ads? And it's not that stuff is overpriced it's just that even good items, well-priced are having a hard time selling?

it is very common at this time for stuff to sit longer...it's mid season and most have their bag set. Not to mention that budgets are usually stretched thin by now. It's a typical lull.

yeah, it certainly picks up then.

It may be a little harder to sell stuff now but there's one truth: if it's good gear & priced right...it's gonna sell, no matter what time of the year.

I have been following WRX marketplace for couple of years.

There are lots of activities in fall because people want to get rid of things that are not needed.
There are also lots of activities in spring because people try to raise money to buy new stuff.

Very slow now.

Do you skippers go back a few pages or do you glance over the first page only? I don't really get why somebody would just skip over pinned adds; really good deals to be had...

If the skippers were the majority pinned ads would go away...don't worry about them. You need to figure out why it's taken three pages and no offers.

Unless it comes up in a search I'm not going back a few pages. Granted though at the moment I'm only looking for one or two very specific things.

Or take it to eBay. That's what I've done the few times I list something here and get no interest. And 9 times out of 10 it sells in days. No dealing with low offers and oddball trade requests.

And on the add skipping, like I said, those pinned ads are usually gear for the better players. A hacker like me can't use any of it.

I skip them because the products that are in pinned adds have the feel of retail, the stuff is over priced or the sales seem to be looking more to make a profit. Non pinned adds are more just hos unloading.

Your prices are either too high or you just don't have stuff people want. That's typically the issue.

[/quote]Not sure why this post is 'odd'. I am in the for sale forum everyday and do buy. I do go back a few pages if I missed a day - never look in pinned. Can't explain exactly why - I guess I just think they are old/stale 'ads'. Savvy shoppers??? LOL wow.

So why ask the community if they do what you do? What are you looking for?

BTW - a search of "pinned ads" will give you all the info you need...

Here's the truth:

[size=4]Many pinned ads are due to having more than a couple items - it's difficult to unload many items before the ad gets lost on page 4...it's the reason I usually only sell a couple items at a time these days. Some prefer to unload up to the 10 items all at once - pinned ads [/size]benefit that.

Not all pinned ads are full of tour issue gear - look at what's pinned right now - there's a smattering but it certainly isn't predominant.

Yes, some are old ads and while you cannot add items to a pinned ad you can beforehand. If a couple things didn't sell and the seller doesn't want to wait 30 days he adds the new stuff and pins it up...

As I've already stated, a pinned ad may be the result of overpricing items, but if the seller is going to pay his $10 a week...pretty sure at some point soon the price will reach the reasonable level. Look at all the pinned ad titles with "price drops" some are even begging for their items to sell...you can find some pretty good deals there.

Again, those who decide to skip them are certainly entitled to, but they do get looks and the items sell...

Lastly, for as many of these threads that pop up, there's one thread I've never seen: "why isn't anyone looking at my pinned ad?"

The lowest I saw was 900+ views seems like your in the minority.

And they pay to list, and that helps the site...Feel free to ignore it.
