Scotty Cameron older Newport model. Looks like an oil can version. Anybody else?

He mentioned in a 2005 GD WITB that he got it in Sept of that and that it had his initials on it. A SC Newport 35" 4deg.

 

It just doesn't look 35' on TV -- more like 33" or 34". A very old, shiny Ping or Pro Only grip from what I could tell.

I'm pretty sure from what I saw yesterday that the grip was an old Cameron/Titleist cord grip.

What I saw was one of the finest putting performances in some time by ANYBODY!!!

He is such a great putter. The routine is so key for him. I use the same exact routine and my putting is a strong part of my game.

I think I am going to use his routine as well. I have been putting well with me new gamer but I think I am missing that little extra something. Actually, I like his pre-shot routine as well. May have to have that part too ;)

I'm pretty sure the putter is 35" According to golf magazine (from Nov. 2003) they said a Scotty Cameron at 35"

I don't understand what you guys mean when you say that's it is a 'naked' oil can.... i''ve been using an oil can for a while now and mine looks pretty much the same, just beat up with some noticeable signs of play. Is that what you mean when you say 'naked' and also someone else said they were going to do that to their new oil can which comes in tomarrow, what exactaly will you be doing? Thanks.

I think naked means the finish has been stripped off it, by putting it in something acidic, like coke. There is alot of talk about that on these forums

I am planning on stripping my oil can if it ever gets here to me in Canada! I started a thread in the clubmakers section and I am most likely going to soak the putter in coke to strip the finish.

 

I will post pics when I do this, hopefully before the weekend

After watching him at WGC today, I am dumbfounded as to length, looks shorter than 35". Would love to hear some confirmation on this.

From what I recall when he did his Playing Lessons with a Pro for the GC, he mentioned that it was an older Cameron that he soaked in vinegar to take off the finish.
