Peanut-style Hybrids

My dad wants a new hybrid and he's insistent on it being as close as possible to the Pro A12 Proto/Pro Black 9031 in head-size. I want him to try out as many brands as possible so I was wondering if you guys could bust out a list of similarly "tiny" hybrids for him to consider.

3 that come to mind: Callaway XHot Pro, Nike VRS Covert, and the Adams Super LS are on the smaller side in comparison to some others on the market at this time. Most Pings also run on the smaller side.

I have the same preference, love my x hot pro. Would consider getting the covert because I like the adjustability

I walked him by all of these, as well as pretty much everything off the rack at PGATSS, and he wasn't a fan of the midsize ones. I'm no stuck on new, btw, he's more than happy to game a used club - hell, half his bag are my retired sticks.

I REALLY wanted him to get the Anser, as it's easily my favorite hybrid on the market - if I gamed a hybrid, it would be an Anser. Sadly, it just didn't fit his eye or feel. The I20 is already very much in the running, and they can be had for a song on CL around me, exactly the type he's looking for.

Tour edge exotics cb4.......the cb series is much smaller than the xg series and is closer in size to his Adams hybrid

The Mizuno MP-CLK is very small, cheap and comes with a Fubuki shaft.

The super Ls is a peanut sized head, but if your dad isn't good enough to hit it, get the g25 hybrid. It performs great, and is fairly small.

If hes ok with used theres nothing better than the Idea pro's and they can be had cheap and imo they did set the standard as far as "peanut" hybrids go.

I'm not sure if u would consider it peanut style but the cobra amp cells are the best I've ever had and they have a very reasonable price! I actually like the colors although some prefer more traditional(grey maybe?) definitely give those a shot. I was shocked by the results!

Used - try Adams Idea Pro A12 - great hybrid, good deals used

New - try Adams Super 9031 - great hybrid, missile launcher also

New - try Titleist 913Hd - peanut head, never tried but would love too, think only available cusom fit

I changed from the peanut Idea Pro to a Maltby KE4 Tour and love it.

Just to update, I stopped by Golfsmith today and they had the Pro A12 new on clearance for $80, so I grabbed him the 18* for him with Altus shaft. Thanks for the help, everyone.

I second this one. I just got a 20* that is all chipped up on the crown and it is fantastic. Has a Javlnfx shaft in it but it is really easy to hit for a smaller hybrid and long.

If you can find the 09 fct hybrids in high toe model they are as close as you can get to the a12 peanuts. My father in law just ordered a new set of a12s from Edwin watts.

If it's still the same as mine, about 90 grams, mid-high launch mid spin with 2.5* torque. Best hybrid shaft I've ever hit.

Update #2. I brought this thing out with me on the course today to try it out on the soaked turf, and I've decided to keep it in my bag and grab something else for my dad. A hybrid hater has been converted! lol I would feel bad if I told him I got it, but since he has no idea I'll be going back to grab him the last 20* on the rack (plus that's regular flex which makes a lot more sense for him. Can the loft on these be safely tweaked? I have a really good clubmaker that I've done a lot of work with, so I don't have an issue with craftsmanship, I just want to know if it's a smart/safe move with this particular hybrid. Maybe just open it up to decrease effective loft?

Hybrids can be adjusted stronger at times, but it makes it not sit square on the ground. There are some threads about this where mr wishon chimed in with some great info.

So, this time I brought him in to chose his own and he walked out with the old TM Rescue Dual with R flex steel T-Step shaft. I tried getting him into something newer from these suggestions, especially the A12 for the value, but he fell in love with it and wouldn't budge. I gotta say, though, he was mashing the absolute crap out of the thing, so I guess it is all about finding what's right for yourself and not buying into the hype.
