Shaft experts - light weight senior flex high launch / spin?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of any shafts that are light weight in senior flex that has mid torque (can't really define) that is high launch and higher spin?

I think one is the graffaloy prelaunch 45 that is 44 grams. Another is graffaloy blue but its 55 grams I think. Like the low 40s if possible but 50 is ok.

Any other options?

Tx.

UST MP5 has a 3.7 torque and is high launch. They measure a little weak, like a half flex, but with the lower torque they don't feel whippy. I've put them in many the Senior clubs. The MP4 has a much higher torque number. If the swing isn't a smooth one, he probably won't like the feel. IMO.

You should look at the MATRIX Radix 4. Have had very good luck with these as well as the others mentioned above. Motore Speeder 5.0 is also great but weighs a little more.
Thanks, matrix and motore I am guessing are out of my price range but will check them out. Tx.
checked out specs for MP below. torque middle of 3.7 and 5.7 which is probably better fit. 3.7 may feel to stiff for this person. Tx . Assuming A flex is senior flex. 4940 A 50 4.0 High

Thanks for feedback. I first started with graffaloy prelaunch 45 (not blue) which is 44 grams uncut. Will test that first since it was a cheaper one.

It's for a 75mph CHS but trying to solve the problem of hooking. Curious if you think the shaft flex OR tip torque OR tip stiffness (maybe trim it?) leads to face closing. Or said another way which one should I look to adjust to turn the hook into a draw if possible. The swing technique is very good its just a couple shafts I have are too flexible and on those they hook. Now they are also higher torque which I think comes hand in hand but some of the ones you mention above can get lower torque.

You might look into Grafalloy Booyah as R flex (its soft to flex so dont worry)
- Its very stable to be a light weighed shaft at only 45 grams uncut as R flex.
Thanks Howard. Specs look good. On the surface it looks just like the Graffaloy Prolaunch 45. There must be a difference. Do you know what it is? Thanks.

As i wrote above, Boyaah is Soft to flex, and as R flex its actually softer than ProLaunch Blue 45 as A flex
The upper part is equal, but mid and tip is slightly softer, so Boyaah should technically launch higher than PLBlue 45A
Thats why i suggested it after reading what you was looking for.

Oh sh...did not know Hooks was a problem, then Booyah is NOT what you should have, IF to much shaft bending forward/face closing is the problem. It might be solved with a more open face angle at address, but a LM test is whats needed to understand why those hooks is your problem.

It could come from a swing plane to much inside out (more than 5*), and then the shaft is NOT the one to blame.

In general we can split Shaft profiles in 3 as Low, Mid, High and say. Low is anti Hook, and High is anti slice, while Mid is neutral. That means if its the shaft profile who closes up to much, then a stiffer mid to tip is where to look.
Great advice. As always thank you. She tends to have too much in to out 7-9 more on higher side. Lessons are working to reduce it but at first the stock shot for her to learn was the draw then the cut. Over did it. Looking for band aid this fall and as we go through lessons fall and winter then we will fix it and get the proper shaft pre spring.

OK then its a swing plane problem, not a shaft closing up to much, so just proceed with Booyah, but a swing tweak is needed.

Ideal swing plane with a driver is 0* to 2* inside out, above 3 draw starts to become large, and above 5 you have lost control and will be loosing it to the left side of the fairways for a right handed player.

A good trainer should be able to fix that swing quickly.
