I know what you mean. I'm no PGA pro, but when I see a high handicapper teaching someone to play golf I cringe inside.

This thread is hilarious! I have a tough enough time keeping my own game together that I can't imagine "teaching" anyone else to play golf, but man I see it all the time. Since when did teaching on the course become the MO? I played with one couple once when the guy kept correcting his partner mid swing! I kid you not; this poor women ended up swinging the club in a fashion that would make Charles Barkley blush. I didn't say anything during the round, but when we finished I counseled him that he should just shut the f*ck up and let her play, particularly if he wanted their relationship to last beyond next week!

Some guy teaching his GF how to golf...had her hitting 3w...while the ball was on a 2 3/4" driver tee. Didnt help much that she was hitting the ground a full foot behind the ball.

This happened today on the range. I'm on the right side and behind me are 3 young guys warming up for their round. Our range has 6 flags and they were all hitting drivers to a 200 yard flag as measured by my range finder.
Funny thing was they were talking to each other and were all very impressed that they were all hitting the "250" yard flag on the fly..........I wanted to say something but I didn't see the point......they were having a great time.

I once had a guy with a horrible slice hit in the booth next to me. He was telling his friends he had this "power slice move" that added 10 yards to all his shots. Every so often he would hit a mega slice that would head to the far right edge of the range and tell his one buddy that the side spin gives the ball more roll and hence more distance. It wasn't any one thing he said that was funny, it was just his whole theory of the "power slice" and how he kept going on about how it actually helped his game.

Wasn't on the range but it was during a tournament round. The person I was playing with made a double out of the middle of the fairway on the previous hole and was absolutely pissed. When it was his turn to hit on the next hole he ripped at it as hard as possible and screamed " GET OFF MY BACK" right as he hit. He was completely serious about this. Everyone else in the group snickered and tried not bust out laughing.

Another one also on the course in a tournament round. Playing partner A takes a big rip at one of those spike balls that fall from the trees and proceeds to stick the ball into playing partner B's calf. He started bleeding quite a bit and actually had to get a band aid at the turn.

not heard but seen, a guy rolled on to a bay at the range with his cart bag attached to his electric trolley! im not joking the bays are literally 20 ft from the car park, (its a range on its own, not at a course) he went to a right sided bay so everyone had to move there bags and chairs, there was absolutely nothing wrong with him apart from laziness!

The guy next to me was getting a "lesson" from his uncle. The whole time he made sure that the club was parallel to the ground at the top, "where it should be."

Never mind the extreme reverse C towards the target and the stress on his back....

Had a guy come up to me to let me know that the advice iam giving my little brother is completely false and iam hurting his game ...i grinned and said "I know more then I want to about the golf swing and iam giving him fundamental advice"


We actually got paired with this guy when we hit the first tee so it was kind of amusing when I shot 75 and my brother kicked my butt with a 74. He was up in the high 80s if I had to guess .

We shook hands on 18 and he said " you should give me a lesson now " Lmao .

My initial thought was that this was probably a WRX'er who will likely come on here and post exactly what you were saying to your brother, haha... But the guy seemed humble in the end, so kudos to him. I see you left out the advice you gave though, smart, wouldn't want to get mauled by the WRX wombats

Preface: 4 young guys coming up to the range with one set of clubs. To their defense, one of them said he has never played and just watched, two said they were very rusty. They all lined up right behind me on the line so I couldn't help to hear everything they said, try not as I might!

The owner of the bag (guy 2) talked a big game, but couldn't back up his claims very well.. here's the highlight reel:

Guy 1: Are those all drivers?
Guy 2: No, that's a driver, then 3 wood and 5 wood.
Guy 1: Well gimme a 3 wood because I can drive it F*%^ing 270. (the range is close to 400 yards deep)

[b]Guy 2: I got gloves if you guys want, they're motocross gloves but it's all the same. (lol say wha?! I had to restrain myself from instinctively turning my head towards that comment in disbelief... sure enough, as I saw later when taking a break at the back of the range, there he was in jeans, tennis shoes, black tee, mirrored glasses, gel'd hair... and yes, MX gloves.. plural) [/b]

Guy 2: I hit my 6 iron 195 yards. (proceeds to chunk everything 20-80 yards)

Guy 3: Is it a hook or a slice when it goes right?
Guy 2: I don't F*%^ing know that stuff, I just crush it...
(at this point someone hitting balls on the other side of them decided to chime in and nicely explain a hook, slice, draw and fade. Their response?)
Guy 1: I hook it right all day. (the other golfer just went back to hitting balls, smart man, haha)

Guy 1: I just love cranking it and hitting it like the pro's, but the balls never go in the right direction when I do it.

Oh, and when some geese landed on the right side of the range about 215 yards out, they all got giddy and decided to try and hit them.. problem was (thankfully) they all decided they could do it with 5 and 6 irons and never got close. I'm guessing they chose 5 irons because after every driver shot they yelled "that one's gone!" Yeah, gone fore right on the 10th fairway.

Entertaining to say the least. When they showed up to the putting green later all sharing one putter, I figured I couldn't take much more and packed it up.

Was on the range today before my round and brought 2 clubs from the cart to warm up with. Decided to walk back and grab another. Get 10-20 feet away and look back and the guy hitting next to me was stealing balls out of my pile.
