Most ranges in my area actually are reduced flight balls!

Justin Leonard had a history of being a cheapskate. I think Kuchar's dad called him out at the Masters Breakfast Banquet for taking several cheese danish pastries.

I would be intrigued to know how much "several" consists of.

I'd make a joke if someone took ~4, but would say something to them when its gets to ~8.

Also, its Augusta, should Leonard have begun paying?

C'mon man this is one of most prolific Wrxisms ever. Usually brought up as the reason to play blades and a little less often high end golf balls.😁

I play with one guy in my social group who will stop to watch other people around the place play shots. Like at the range or on the next fairway he'll just walk up, stop and stare, and make sure they know hes there. Hard to miss him, hes obese, stinks and loud. Shoots on average 125.

There's a lot of people like him around the place. I call them roos. They are typically old. They'll just stop what they're doing and stare at you kinda like a kangaroo does.

I just read the most ridiculous thing in golf. A poster is talking about his net club championship. What? A net “club champion”.

A: Meet our club champion.

B: He must be quite a player.

A: Not really. He’s a 24-handicap but he shot a couple of 90s to take our title. We play a net club championship. ?

Um...net club champion is a thing in my part of the world. Not in America?

I would never speak for an entire nation, but in my neck of the woods, there is no such thing as a net club championship. We have plenty of tournaments that have both net and gross standings, but a club champion is a very special label. Our region holds a tournament of champions every October. Our region’s ~40 club champions compete in this 1-day (scratch) event.

My country club’s championship has a net and gross champion. We have European tour pros at the club so to limit the club championship to gross only isn't really fair on all the members. These pros can go play at bigger state and national events to prove their wares. And the championship is something the members really prepare for and look forward to. It’s the biggest event on the calendar for them.

We have Champ Flight ( below 3 HCP)and stroke play. Then A,B,C flights which are net based. Also we track everyone's handicap and they must have 97% of their rounds entered to be eligible to play.

So technically we have 4 club champions a year, really its the champ flight that counts. Champ flight also play back tee's when all others are moved up.

You have tour pros playing in a country club event?  That is odd.

Belk has been going out of business for 9 years.

Did you hear the story about Pete yelling at an ice cream store employee because she got the order wrong for his grandkids?

He was wearing Sketchers at the time.  Free Sketchers, mind you.

I know this to be fact - come the holiday season, there are no cards on the Kuchar fireplace mantel from Justin Leonard.

Several = 5+

If in a single trip to a formal serving table, a person takes more than (5) breakfast pastries, in any variety, he or she is either cheap or a glutton.  Three is the maximum for what is commonly tagged, "bringing them back to the table."

I feel like this deserves clarity.  Five total regardless of variety or five of any one variety.  You don't want to short yourself on the blueberry scones if they are outstanding but also not miss out on different varieties of pastelitos or baklava.

Going to also need a ruling on "bringing these back to a friend."

One friend - One pastry.

Sounds exactly like what we do here, except the best gross scores after 3 rounds compete in a final matchplay knockout tournament. I think its the top 8. Maybe 16. For this final part there is massive betting among members. A Calcutta is run and thousands put on the line. All flights play off the same back tees. The net champion is determined as the best net score across all the flights. We have flights so that golfers of similar ability are paired together.

Why is that strange? Wouldn't all tour pros be a member of a club or multiple clubs somewhere? What are they meant to play when not on tour? Just social practice rounds?

I'm not sure they did play in the club championship but they are often down playing the weekday and weekend competitions. Scott Strange and Rick Kulacz are members and they play off plus handicaps.

Hannah Green plays comps all the time with my friends at her local club Mount Lawley when shes in town. So does Minjee and Min Woo Lee at Royal Fremantle.

Edit: can confirm Rick Kulacz played the club championship off +5.
