Scotty Cameron Del Mar with Superstroke 2.0 help

I have a Scotty Cameron Del Mar which I really like, but I am not a big fan of the pistolero grip. I am thinking about installing a superstroke mid slim 2.0 grip on it, and am wondering if anyone on here has done that and other than a larger grip was there a difference in the putter feel? I am mainly worried as if I read correctly on here the pistolero grip weighs about 83 grams and the mid slim only weighs about 50 grams. I am curious as to how this change in weight will affect the feel of the putter, will the head feel heavier/lighter?

Long story short, the best way to maintain the feel that you may lose with the lighter and larger grip is to add weight under the grip with lead tape. This has been proven to be the quick and dirty tour method by someone who just so happens to be one of the front men on tour with Superstroke.

There are also some new options that will be available down the road which will be weighted even more to a tour spec (~110+ grams) in the near future.

Personally, I had one of my worst putter days ever my first day with the new 3.0. It felt much better after adding the additional weight under the grip. I was also deciding between the 2.0 and 3.0, but ultimately, decided on the 3.0 because the 2.0 felt basically the same, if not almost smaller, in my hands than the pistolero I had previously.

I've put a Super Stroke on a few putters now, and dependant on the weight of the head and the type of grip that was on there before there could be a marked difference in the overall "Feel" weight of the putter.

TKD24 above is totally right about counterbalancing the weight under the grip to get it to "feel" like it should however I would caution against an install that uses lead tape under the grip, this can in some instances cause an uneven distribution and isnt really an exact science.

One other option would be to put weight in the butt end of the grip. There are very expensive weight kits that will do this, but my preferred method is to use a 1/2' Clevis pin in the butt end of the shaft. They come in a wide array of lengths and therefore weights which allows a much more accurate calculation. I've installed 3 of these in a 72gm weight to my putters so far, and the results are excellent. I did a full resto on a TPA XVIII on here which had the same technique applied. Basically it's a pin that has a diameter capable of fitting snug in the but end of the shaft once you add some double sided tape, the head of the pin only increases length by 2/3mm.

For whatever it's worth I changed my Cali Sonoma to a ss3. And have not felt any weight issue... Feels great how it is. Good luck.

I have a SC Fastback that I put on a SS 2.0 about a month ago. Didn't add any weight to it. Absolutely love the SS grip and haven't noticed much of a difference weight wise. I actually like it better.

I recently switched a DH89 to a Salty midsize grip, which is very similar in size/weight to a SS 2.0. I was using a large Iomic before which is weighs in the mid-70s. It really doesn't feel significantly different as far as weight distribution goes. I know it is because of the really light cork grip, but I think the large grip diameter helps take away some of the head heavy feel you might get if you had a lightweight grip of a regular size. At least that has been my experience.

Still trying to get used to the larger diameter non-tapering grip but really like the look/feel of the Salty so I'm hoping I will get used to it. If you're looking at a SS 2.0, check out the Salty. Looks and feels much nicer in my opinion (I tried a SS 2.0 on my older Scotty once...it lasted once practice session and one round before it was pulled off....maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance but I putted poorly with it, didn't like the feel, and thought it was the ugliest putter grip I'd ever seen)
