Expresso WR67 GPS (EasyGreen Expresso WR67)

Has anyone tried the Expresso WR67 GPS watch? Looking feedback.

I had considered buying the Bushnell NEO-X or a S2, until I saw the Expresso WR67. From what I have read, the Expresso WR67 is the cousin of the Neo-X. Both seem to have the same features and use the iGolf website for updates. However, the Expresso WR67 is $20 cheaper. I like the style of the Expresso WR67 watch better. The Expresso WR67 also has a 2 year warranty.

I have had 5 GPS watches including an Expresso WR62. My current favorite is the NeoX and have probably 40 rounds on it. I bought the NeoX for $149 which is cheaper than the Expresso. Perhaps they have fixed the ills of the WR62 with the new model but I have not read any reviews. I see that they have at least gotten rid of the clasp type band. I had two big issues with the WR62. The watch was limited to two hazards per hole. The iGolf dudes programmed in the closet two hazards to the green which are usually greenside bunkers and ignored fairway hazards which pretty much made the hazard info worthless. Also the WR would also not auto advance to the next hole for many holes during each round. The NeoX gives the fairway hazards and had yet to fail to auto advance. Battery life on the NeoX is good for 3 rounds.

Rickochet thanks for the input. You must have gotten your Neo-X on sale, now they are $199, unless I buy on ebay. I think the newer model WR67 has hazard info just as the Neo X does. I found all the hazard abbreviations listed in the WR67 FAQ.

LFB - Left Fairway Bunker
MFB - Middle Fairway Bunker
RFB - Right Fairway Bunker
LFW - Left Fairway Water Layup
LFWC - Left Fairway Water Carry
MFW - Middle Fairway Water Layup
MFWC - Middle Fairway Water Carry
RFW - Right Fairway Water Layup
RFWC - Right Fairway Water Carry
FGB - Front Green Bunker
RGB - Right Green Bunker
LGB - Left Green Bunker
BGB - Back Green Bunker
RGW - Right Green Water
FGWC - Front Green Water Carry
FGW - Front Green Water Layup
LGW - Left Green Water
BGW - Back Green Water
CRK - Creek Layup
CRKC - Creek Carry
EOF - End of Fairway

I have the "original" WR67 which I bought when it was first released. So far it has worked well. It does periodically stop auto-advancing but it's easy enough to manually advance until the auto advance resumes. My WR67 is limited to 2 hazards so hazard information is sometimes hit or miss in terms of relevancy but I don't know if ESN has made any software changes that might improve their handling of hazards. I was unable to determine from Neo X literature if it's any better. Neither Bushnell or ESN really state what the limits are on hazards or how hazards are prioritized. Accuracy is not relevant for comparison since both use the same database.

I see that the WR67 went to a sports band like other gps watches. That's OK except my experience with sports bands is that they eventually become brittle and crack...at least with regular sports watches. Are replacement bands available? Both the WR67 and NeoX seem to be molded into their band. In my opinion, the sports band is not a positive feature if it's not replaceable even though the majority of people seem to prefer it.

I just purchased the new Expresso and used it for a couple of rounds. So far so good. Seems pretty accurate when compared with my laser range finder. Very convenient during the winter when it's cart path only most of the time. The watch charges pretty quickly and usually takes a couple of minutes to hook up the satellite and find the course that you are playing. I haven't played around with most of the other features on the watch, I just care about front middle and back and then sometimes I use it in combination with my laser. I think its a good GPS watch for the price..

I also purchased an Expresso over Christmas. Ditto on everything you stated. I played my first round with the Expresso last week and it performed flawlessly.
I really like seeing the hazard distances. I chose the Expresso over the Neo-X because I liked the shape and band on the Expresso better. Prior to the Expresso, I was using a Callaway UPro and Upro MX. It will seem so good not having to deal with the $%*#& Callaway Upro site to add courses.

I have the original wr67.  At least 10 years old maybe more.  Since last week the link to the satellites takes 20 minutes or more to eventually link up.  Then it does not update as you walk towards the hole making it pretty much useless.    I have been having trouble getting support from anyone.  Does anyone have a current support website or phone number?  The sites listed in the user manual do not seem legit.  The current easygreen site for hong Kong does not seem to support these devices.

I have a WR67, Model number WSNWR67BLUSA, Serial number WR67SR002516.  I have owned this for at least 10 years, possibly longer.

Just last week it began to have problems locking onto the satellite.  Prior to that it had worked fine.

At the beginning of the round it took 8-10 minutes to GPS lock and give me a list of courses.   Once I chose a course, I needed to select the hole since we had already played 2 holes.  It would not update the position as I walked down the path of the hole accept very sporadically and with many 10-15 minute gaps between updates.  Finally gave up and did not try to use it.   It was fully charged at the beginning of the round.

At home I tried the reset option and tested it by using the location option.  It sat in searching mode for 20 minutes.  I even took it outside and left it in the open for 10 minutes without getting a satellite lock and position.  After 30 minutes I exited that option.

Then I tried the hardware reset option.  The screen went blank and the watch rebooted.  I recharged the battery overnight and tried the location option again. It sat in the searching option for 30 minutes without getting a satellite lock and position.  I even took it outside again and left it in the open for 10 minutes without getting a satellite lock and position.

I tried the ESN support number of 1888 691 1350 listed in the version of the WR67 Full User Manual.  It did not seem to be the number for or even the correct company anymore.  The lady who answered tried to sell me some kind of personal alert system and when I tried to explain that I was looking for WR67 support she hung up.   I have tried Igolf.com and easygreen.com.HK without success. I emailed support@expressogps.com without getting a response.

I have not been able to find any support to see if this is a correctable problem.  Does anyone have a current support number or website that they could share with me?
