Tampa Area Golf

I am setting up a golf trip to the Tampa area in March. Planning on playing Streamsong and both the Copperhead and Island courses at Innisbrook. May also get on Old Memorial and we have one day left. Thinking of either 36 at either Black Diamond Ranch or World Woods. Anyone like one of these two better?

I've heard that World Woods has been in pretty bad shape lately. I'd go for Black Diamond Ranch.

I played World Woods 3 weeks ago. It was is perfect shape.

The other way around, from what I've heard.

I've played WW 5 or 6 times in the last 2 months ... excellent conditions, other than the Greens are slow on Pine Barrens.

I have a friend who lives at Black Diamond, says the course is in awful condition.

I'd love to play World Woods, but their website, which lists their maintenance schedule, says they just finished overseeding in the last couple of weeks. I may be wrong, but it wouldn't be the best time to play a course, regardless of condition, after overseeding, right?I won't have enough time to play World Woods because I need to stay close to the airport. I was glad to hear that TPC Tampa, which was recommended here despite somewhat high greens fee, doesn't overseed as they have championship bermuda.

When I played Rolling Oaks it was perfect. They had overseeded pine barrons, and had it closed down for a week. I would think since its almost a month later it would be in pretty good shape. I have not ever played pine barrons, it is a different style of coarse compared to Rolling Oaks. I believe it has much more waste areas, a lot of sand I have been told. I would play it in a heart beat though. Just my group doesnt like the sand.

I would just call them. When I have played there (twice) this is a very unassuming course with the best practice facilities I have ever seen. I am sure they will tell you the exact conditions of the courses. If you can make it there, you will not forget the experience.

Just played them yesterday , and for the price the experience can't be beaten. Pine Barrens still is visually sensational, tee to green a well designed course. The green speed, for whatever the reason, where really slow, I would say like maybe 5-6 on the stimp. Rolling Oaks greens were ok, maybe 9-10, but Rolling Oaks was overseeded and with the rain, cart path only in some holes. The overseeded did not diminished my experience.

Definitely, would play them again, hopefully soon.
