New Contracts confirmed

Some of these have been speculated and I am sure there is more. You may see some in new gear but most won't be allowed to until Jan 1 after existing contracts expire. These are done deals, hats and shirts have been ordered and are in production for those that need custom and personalization.

 

*Pat Perez to Callaway

*Harris English to Callaway

*Ernie Els to Adams

*Matteo Mansserro from Titleist to Callaway, he looked at a couple of major OEMs but Callaway offered twice what another (not Achushnet) offered.

*Another Major Winner leaving Callaway for TaylorMade. Not sure if I can make this public at the moment but many can guess this one. He is playing today with the old gear as is everyone here except maybe Perez.

 

There is a couple more to come, can't comment on yet but I am not aware of any major deals or players. Overall, so far, a relatively quiet year. But there are still some talks going on. But these OEMs have budgets that they are holding to. Only Callaway is spending more. They and Nike are spending more endorsement money against revenue than the others!

It's either Furyk or Immelman (is he technically on their staff?) going from Callaway to TM, my guess is on the later, but neither would surprise me too much. Ernie going to Adams seems to be a good fit, he'll get on well with their equipment. He loved the X Utility irons from Callaway so I'm sure he'll have some of the DHys in the bag come next year, and rightfully so as they're solid clubs.

English and Mansserro are good pickups for Callaway IMO.

So, the staff player moving from Callaway to Taylor Made would have to be Mickelson, Furyk, or Immelman? Unless I am missing a major winner out of their list of players. My guess is probably Immelman, I doubt Callaway would let Mickelson or Furyk go. But, money talks, so I could be wrong.

Els to Adams?! That's definitely a change of pace. Is he going to be Adams straight through the bag, or do you think he will be open to have some Taylormade as well?

Also another major winner from Cally to TMAG? I think the only others are what Furyk, Immelman, and Phil? Furyk isn't a full
Cally deal anyways, but Phil switching would be nuts!

Awesome info. I too guess Immelman to TM. Mansserro to Cally for double the dollars (I'm guessing TM, here) is a gamble wiht huge potential.

Didn't Furyk have a short stint playing Taylormade a couple years ago? IIRC he changed to Cally because he didn't like the Taylormade ball. I could be hallucinating though...

Els to Adams is suprising although it makes sense with him testing the Lethal ball though.

I was going to say the same thing. I thought he was kind of on the TM staff for a year or two with the ball. He had a commercial preaching the penta.

The other giveaway is that the OP said that the player is playing with their old gear today. Furyk is not playing today but Immelman is.

It actually makes sense to me. Seems to me that the general direction is that the younger players are going TM, and the older ones get the Adams deals. And he'll still be able to play TM clubs if he wants, although I'm sure that at the very least his hybrids will be Adams.

I'm don't think it make sense for Els as the face of TM fits with what they are doing with that brand, but he immediately becomes the face of Adams on the PGA tour. Good pickup for them.

well yeah, but furyk was a free agent a while back and only recently signed with callaway (i think 2 years ago) while immelman has been with callaway for a while now. It would also make sense for immelman to switch since he stated that he would like to "kickstart" his career again in 2014.

Els was said to be going to TMAG but people assumed that meant Taylormade clubs, but I guess its gonna be Adams!

I do agree that Callaway would lose a significant amount of influence not having a big name in the aging golf market. Pushing for the younger up and comers makes sense for almost every professional sport except for golf IMO. I don't have numbers to go off of but I can't imagine the majority of guys playing are wondering what new driver Ryo Ishikawa or Manaserro are playing...
