Adding loft to a G25 4-wood

I am currently gaming a Ping Rapture V2 17.5-degree 4-wood with a Fujikura Fit-On Max 76-gram stiff flex. My club fitter, Baker's Custom Golf Tulsa, built this around the head I brought them. They did a great job, swing weight feels correct, and shaft loads well for my swing type. It is also a bomber ranging from 240-270 from tee or deck. A great club but...

 

I assume that the G25 4-wood has added forgiveness that I wouldn't mind picking up assuming I can keep all of the same attributes of my current V2. Yes, I know this may be a tall order...and perhaps a bit silly.

 

If I were to get a G25 16.5-degree 4-wood, can the hosel be adjusted to add loft? Will this 1-degree of change look much more closed or will it be negligible? I suppose I should first check the true loft of my current club to compare to what I am considering as well.

 

Also does the G25 head tend to launch higher than the Rapture V2, and if so should I consider a different shaft?

Its always a little sketchy playing with the hosel on a fairway wood.. Check the true loft and then maybe look into a 5 wood around 18*? I dont like getting too nitpicky with clubs cause then things can start to go downhill quickly..

Dude, if you're hitting a 4 wood 240-270, you shouldn't change a thing.

lol Reminds me of one of Sam Snead's seniors columns in Golf Digest thirty years or so ago (of course in the days of wooden heads and steel shafts). Guy writes in: "Sam, all my drives go 250, but fade 8 feet right. What should I do?".

The G25 is a little shallower design. It may launch as high as the Rapture despite having less loft.
I have a G25 3W head sitting here waiting to be paired up with a shaft. Appears it requires a special hosel/ferrule adapter as the hosel bore is larger than .350. If there is a "clocking" style collar/ferrule out there, I imagine the loft can be adjusted, but I haven't searched for one of those. But I'd say try one if you can to see how the shallow head design launches.

You guys are right, and I know I should probably leave well enough alone. I love the trajectory and distance of my current setup. I'm just curious to see if I can get some more forgiveness out of the G25, at the same time take with me what I've established with my current club.

It sounds like I shouldn't mess around with the loft of a fairway wood. Good info, and maybe the effective lofts will be similar anyway.

You could always order one through Ping's WRX Dept. and have it digitally lofted to the exact loft you're looking for...

How would a one-degree-weak G25 4-wood be different than a G25 5-wood? The 5-wood would be 1/2" longer and 1/2 degree weaker than what you're trying to create. Just special order a G25 5-wood 1/2" longer than standard and don't worry about 1/2 degree. Or as someone suggested, see if Ping can find you a week 4-wood head or slightly strong 5-wood head.
