Thrill either you're extremely tall, Isaac is extremely short, or you held the camera over your head!!! ;-)

I'm 6'5" and you have to hold it up or that divider cuts off the legs.

But look how still it is! I would have confused me for a tripod if I didn't know better.

Haha. If your current occupation doesn't pan out for you, you would make a perfect royal guard for the Queen of England.

Isaac, I am not an instructor as you know, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

All of the suggestions have been great, but one thing I would add after throwing your swing in the V1 and checking it out in slo mo, your head is dropping almost 6-8 inches from address. So you have to create some room to swing or you will hit a foot behind it. I am sure more tilt will help, but also check your right knee.

I am sure I will get flamed, but I do not believe the right knee should stay flexed the same amount as it does at address, I believe it should straighten a little. Your right knee adds flex, and is a big cause of the head dropping so much. So my suggestion would be to straighten your right leg going back a little by pushing on the ground slightly, that should help you keep more room to swing.

Also, from experience of dropping the right shoulder hard and backing out, I used to swing way too much out to the right, get under plane, and the right shoulder would never get out to the ball causing some backing up. The fix for me on that one was just a lot of slow mo swings turning my shoulders correctly instead of dropping the right shoulder and then learning to swing more left, intentionally coming over the top of it. Took some time.

Thanks everyone! Especially thrillhouse. His majesticnessism knows no bounds! Barf!

Agree that I sometimes get too closed at address as I find it's easier to make the back swing. Will try tomorrow

Also agree that the stance is too narrow. Though part of that is that in 5'10" with 29 inch legs. I get restricted if I get too narrow but I will experiment.
Believe me, I have no leg to stand on with the stance, so it was not a critique in any manner. If I could swing like you, I wouldn't care what my feet look like. I was only noting this fact as it referred to torque and pain in my lower back, which subsided when I opened up.

My technical swing knowledge is slim to none, and you probably know where slim went.

So I went to the range again today. I had some personal insights into why my current swing has developed the way is has.
Doing anything else pretty much hurts even more then what I already do!

Adding tilt at address immediately gives me pain. Pushing the hips toward the target does the same thing... And increasing stance width prevents hip turn on my back swing and gives me a psoas cramp on the follow thru.

I think the only thing that I can really do is to lose some weight and increase flexibility more. The strange thing is that I'm way more flexible than the average 40 year old guy. I can still almost do the splits in both directions, I can hold a wedge in front of me with straight arms and wrap it around over my head completely behind me, and my neck mobility is nearly 120 degrees.

What the hell???

All I can think of is better diet, more water, and more yoga type exercises to build strength and balance in stabilizing muscles.

I appreciate all the advice guys!
Sorry, professional camera operator and cinematographer are not the same things...

For the record, that moron thrillhouse is neither! LOL!
The cinematographer can and will operate the camera along with their team of focus pullers, grips, film loaders, etc.

But we're getting off topic. And I'm not sure that Thrill is as adjustable as my tripods.
Yes I'm aware, one of my closest friends has a production company in Van Nuys.... Of course it's more of a back room production company if you know what I mean, but it's a living.

I'm just trying to rip the guy that somehow had to point out in my thread how important he was in filming my magic move
in the Great White Bubble.

thrillhouse is a cad.

I actually had my whole team there but they left after Isaac went all diva on us and refused to make a Tim hortons run for the group.

Upon hearing our request Isaac yelled "I'm not getting you guys s*** at the drive through! If anyone needs me I'll be in my trailer!" And stormed off.

Isaac, what about chiropractic and trigger point therapy?

I used to get back and hip pain...fixed with a monthly trip to the chiropractor (activator method), sleep on the floor, and if pain starts, find the pressure point that relieves it and push as hard as possible. I take my hydroflask and back into a wall for 10 or so seconds.

Only other point...hitting draws is easier on your body since you trap it more and rely less on a hard lower body move. Think about a hard swing left for a high cut vs. a smooth 2 yard draw.
I've been to multiple massage therapists and they say they know trigger point therapy but they don't. I have the big book but it's hard to do on your self. A benefited so much from trigger point work. I just wish I could find someone that is well versed in it.

I use Mobilitywod.com, a foam roller, and a lacross ball to hit some painful areas and increase mobility. Might be worth looking at.
Just a wild guess but it could be a muscle balance issue - or at least something an improved muscle balance might help. It's probably best to get checked out by a trained physio but golf is very one-directional which might have made your muscle strength asymmetric and that could manifest itself in symptoms like yours. Of course, there are a million other plausible explanations so a good physio comes handy.

Isaacbm,
Do you work with a pro around here? I am looking for someone to have a couple of sessions with over the winter, if you have any recommendations (I'm in SW Calgary).

Cheers,
Alan
