Ill be interested to see if AS can hold this form when the PGA kicks back up (As in the fields get significantly stronger again). Im curious as to whether this stellar play is also partly because AS doesnt really care about these events in the grand scheme and he is playing at home.
Or maybe his stellar play is because he is taking them so seriously and is really focussed.
I can assure you Scott cares about his national events, particularly the Ope. To suggest otherwise is the height of ignorance. You must be one of those Americans who think world history began in 1776
Indeed! As every Australian knows, the world history began in 1788.

Meanwhile on the topic... pretty lucky break for McIlroy to get out of the course before the weather got bad. And right now the TV is showing Scott on a fairway on the par5 13th with a driver in hand.

edit: didn't miss the green by much!

Going to be a pretty exciting weekend. Hope the weather starts to behave again. Rory was lucky to get out before the worst hit the course. Scott was coping with it quite well but Jason Day was in a lot of trouble. There seems to also be a whole bunch of Aussies I've never heard of who are playing pretty well.

A pity I can't watch. Playing The Dunes on Saturday and Sunday is sold out on other stuff.

This whole weather drama first in Melbourne and now in Sydney is not exactly doing favours to the tourism board trying to promote Australia as a beachy destination. "We saved you a spot under an umbrella. The fireplace's waiting... So where the bl***y h**l are you?"

I don't mean to be disrespectful, I just wanted to add something to your numbers.

I believe Tiger 'only' has 106 professional wins, it's confusing because the WGCs and majors are double counted for the Euro and PGA Tours, same for co-sanctioned Euro and Asian Tour events. Adam Scott has 25 (soon to be 26?) total pro wins and Stenson has 16.

But let's be fair, some of those events were almost meaningless (a bunch of Tigers wins gave him zero world ranking points), so let me try to list the events which actually did count for something:

1. Tiger:

- 79 PGA Tour wins
-8 other Euro tour wins
- 1 Asian Tour win
- 2 Japan Tour wins
- 5 at Sherwood (though only has last win there gave out world ranking points I believe)
-1 individual title in the World Cup '99

=96 (or 91 removing the Chevron events; 1 world cup, 7 Grand Slam, and 1 Notah Begay Challenge also removed)

2. Adam Scott

-10 PGA Tour wins
-7 Euro Tour wins
-2 Asian Tour wins
- 4 additional Australaisan tour wins

=23 total victories (World Cup team win and Grand slam win subtracted)

Henrik Stenson
-4 PGA Tour wins
-7 Euro Tour wins
-3 Challenge Tour wins (should it count?)
-1 Nedbank win (should it count?)

=15 total victories (World Cup team win subtracted)

The world cup is difficult, I'm not sure how that should count because Henrik won with Karlson in 2008 and Tiger with Duval in 2000, and yet there were no individual awards given out those years. Perhaps it is better to just give it to the whole country (in which case, Tiger has 2 World cups and the other two have one), or just remove it entirely.

Anger???? Where do you get that from???? It's laughable. Not making up numbers.....just quickly went to wikipedia and added it up. Used the same method for all three players so if I goofed I goofed. The simple fact is any comparison between Tiger and these two is a joke.

The comment you got so worked up about is below. I've made the important word stand out for you since you missed it originally.

No one said that Stenson or Scott has had a better career than Tiger, that would just be silly. But they are really hot right now. Apart from that, there are a handful of players; Tiger, Scott, Stenson; Mickelson and McIlroy (as I see it) that when their game is on, they are almost unbeatable and are able to play on a level no one else can reach.

It will be a very interesting season next year.

Well it certainly helps Stenson and Scott that Tiger isn't even playing right now. Of course They are better than the guy who is currently sitting at home, hard to compare results vs no results. Also, While I'm sure AS takes these events seriously;

A: They are marshmallow fields, most of these events would be a shame if he didnt win, even on his B/C Game.
B: As the oft used argument goes, I'm sure AS would trade these Australia wins for regular PGA Wins/ WGC/ Majors. Thus, they are not as important.

According to Wikipedia, Tiger has 90 wins if you count all of his PGA wins, 8 of the Euro Tour wins, both of his Japan Tour Wins, and his Asian tour win. This does not count any of his "Other Professional Wins" like the Chevron/World Cup/ Notah Begay/ and so on.

Tiger will outlast both. Stenson won't maintain his form for long as has been seen before and Scott is making hay while the sun shines til the rules catch up with him. I've watched him his whole career and I can say that his short and medium length putting doesn't resemble what it was with a proper putter. He was an absolute head case over short putts on fast greens with a real putter, but now he looks so relaxed standing over anything inside 10 feet, or at least as relaxed as humanly possible with that monstrosity tucked into his chest. Tiger will still be there in 2016, I doubt the 'top 2 in the world' will be.

I love it when people take personal offense because someone suggests that right now someone other than Tiger might be the best golfer on the planet. Next week and next month and next year could well tell a different story though.

Does anyone want to bet that the same people getting their knickers in a twist over this were the same people criticising Luke Donald for being ranked number 1 without a major in the last 2 years. Funny how you don't hear that argument anymore...

I doubt AS would trade any of his Australian wins for any PGA Tour event, maybe even Majors. The Aussie's hold these events in very very high regard.

I think Scott would rank the Oz Open number 5 on his list of priorities outside majors. It's a huge deal to Australian players. Over here meeting an Australian Open champion would be a much bigger deal than meeting a PGA tour winner for club golfers. Only the majors and maybe The Players would rank higher.

I wish the internet would transmit emotions better. First I'm angry. Then I'm all worked up. Neither one is true. I was mocking a laughable ridiculous statement. Its an internet golf forum. Get over yourselves if you get angry or all worked up over anything here.

Which made no sense because the OWGR only covers the past two years.
