Not much to brag about in terms of the top tier players but this is the pga tour and the numbers don't lie. For TM or any other company to claim being number 1 for any type of equipment being used says a lot. Titleist has had a firm grip on ball use. Tour preferred balls are awesome. I was an avid user of the pro v1 but have since switched to the tour preferred. Plays better in the wind and is a great off long iron shots. Awesome trajectory. Can't wait to try the wedges out.

Hope your surgery went well and hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hey Jose,

Surgery went well thanks. It's been about 2 weeks. I go in for my first follow-up appointment on Wednesday.

I respectfully disagree. IMO, the better the field/tournament, the more validation for the equipment. Regarding balls, I do agree. TM does not get enough credit. They make good balls. If I'm not mistaken, they were the first to release a 5 piece ball.

I understand what your saying but at that point you are talking about less than 5% of the tour. Yes big names attract viewers and crowds but IMO it would be naive to think that a field like the valspar or any other tournament that doesnt have the big names does not do good for the brands. When you can tout that during any particular week that you were number one in whatever then i think thats what they look for. We all know its hard for these guys to win on tour and to have any player representing any brand win in any given week that is a plus for whoever is sponsoring that player. I understand the big names but I enjoy watching the other guys win as well because you can see how much it means to them.

They told me at The Kingdom that I needed a 14* SLDR they just didn't have them at that time. Can't wait to get out and hit the SLDR

I don't remember what loft SLDRs I hit at the Kingdom but I didn't get along with any of them like I did the JetSpeed. My AoA was +3.5-+4* though, so it will be interesting to see how I hit this 14* head.

Let us know how it goes David. I can't hit mine till mid april. I know you are excited as you wanted a 14* driver. Are you going to use the shaft that came with it or the shaft you were fit for?

Took my 14* SLDR out for 18 yesterday and wasn't expecting much since I was fit for a 10.5* JetSpeed turned to 9.5*. I have around +4 AoA and am a low spin guy anyway, but was pleasantly surprised with the results.

I set the 14* as low as possible and decided to leave the stock stiff shaft in it., SLDR weight set neutral.

I had a few drives in the 275 range (Carry+roll) with the SLDR (my average distance with the JetSpeed is about 270) that felt great off the face. Ball flight was higher than I'm used to but very penetrating. My buddy I was playing with (who REALLY struggles with driver's) was very impressed with how I was hitting it and thought the ball flight looked awesome. My father in law also joined us, and I told him before the round I was probably only going to use the SLDR for that one round since I thought it was too much loft, and not as forgiving as my JetSpeed. All day long he kept telling me I should stick with the SLDR lol. They also really both liked the sound, much more of a violent thwack then the JetSpeed.

I still think I need the forgiveness of the JetSpeed, but am going to test the SLDR against it with the shaft I was fit for at the kingdom, Fuji Motore Speeder 6.3 VC. My swing was not in a good place on the kingdom trip and I couldn't hit the SLDR to save my life. I've worked out a few kinks since then and if the SLDR can match approach or surpass the distance of my JetSpeed, I'm going to look at getting a 12* head to try out.

I took my 14* SLDR out yesterday. Hit it very high seemed like it launched high then keep climbing. Several things I noticed. First, the ball flight seemed high but it went as far as my jetspeed. Second, the ball didn't seem to curve as much. Obviously the lower spin made the ball fly straighter, even on miss hits. Lastly, several people have asked and questioned what would the wind do to this higher ball flight. The wind was blowing 10-20mph all day and I couldn't tell that the wind affected the ball flight anymore than usually. In fact it may have had less effect since the misses didn't have the higher spin. The more I hit the SLDR the more Iiked it.

I let about 20 people try it on the range and on the course. I made them hit it without looking at the bottom of the club, so they wouldn't prejudge the 14* loft. Most people were shocked when they looked at the bottom and found out it was 14*. Only ones who it it what I would call too high were a couple of local college golfers. They would probably be better fit with a 12*. They still didn't seem to loose much distance with the extremely high ball flight. Most people were surprised at how easy it was to hit. Most were surprised that they didn't hit it higher. In fact they loved the look of the ball flight with this club.

Today I tried switching shafts. I put in the shaft out of my jetspeed in the SLDR. Switching the shaft brought the ball flight down to a little. It was very cold and windy. Again the wind didn't seem to hurt the ball flight as much as I would have thought. Going to try changing the loft through the shaft adjustment. I can tell you the 14* SLDR is very easy to hit. I have loved my jetspeed because of how easy it is to hit and how good my mishits are with it. The 14* SLDR is also that good. I'm very impressed and pleased with the results so far. Can't wait for some better weather.

I was fit into the following

SLDR 10.5 with a Motore 6.2 X flex set a .5 degree down and one notch fade bias to help with my left tendency
SLDR TS 3 wood with a TS 8.2 X flex set at .5 degrees higher
SLDR 2 rescue with a MATRIX 95g hybrid shaft X Flex set and at .5 degrees higher.

I was hitting my RBZ Stage 2 280 and I was averaging 305 with the SLDR. Launch went from 11 to 14.5 and the spin went from 2800 to 2059. Ball speed went from 154 to 162. Very pleased with the results. I was very skeptical on how increasing my loft would add yards but I have experienced it yesterday at the kingdome and will tell you that i was amazed. I will provide more feedback once i get out on the course.

I was properly fit for my driver before #insidetmag and I still saw a yardage increase. I dont get what ur saying.
I didn't want to discuss #InsideTMAG in the $5000 TM Challenge thread. So I went back here.

Assuming a smash factor of 1.49, you would have had to increase your SS by 5.4 MPH to get a Ball Speed increase of 8. To me, that is a bit abnormal for someone who was properly fit. Do you recall your smash factor the with your RBZ Stage 2 Driver? What was it with the SLDR Driver?

If we use the Flightscope Optimizer Link and get rid of the 8 MPH Ball Speed increase, you get the following numbers:
a. RBZ Stage 2 (154 Ball Speed, 11.0 LA, 2800 SPIN) 252.2 yds of carry and 263.9 yds of total distance
b. SLDR Driver (154 Ball Speed, 14.5 LA, 2059 SPIN) 258.6 yds of carry and 272.9 yds of total distance
c. SLDR Driver (162 Ball Speed, 14.5 LA, 2059 SPIN) 278.7 yds of carry and 292.0 yds of total distance

With that said, your +25 yard increase in distance can be broken down rather easily. 9-10 yards due to better launch and spin conditions and 10-15 yards due to an increase in ball speed.

IMO, Ball Speed should not increase by more than 3-5 MPH due to COR limits (.083) for someone who had been properly fit. The only other factor would be club weight. Lighter the club, the faster you can swing it.

Closing thought, a 8-12 yard gain from proper launch and spin conditions is more plausible then your gain of 25 yards. Numbers don't lie.

Jose, I don't why you responded the way you did. We have always been amicable both in the open forums and in PM. You made a comment and out of respect for those other guys, I answered your concern in the #InsideTMAG connection. No one's got beef with you. No one is calling you a liar.

I have never nor did I question your 20+ yards gains from a RBZ Stage 2 to the SLDR. All I did was breakdown where the extra 20+ yards came from. Was that offensive to you? Was I wrong? I don't understand what I did to upset you so much.

As I've stated. I think all OEMs make great golf equipment. In 2009, I played TM irons and a Cleveland Driver. After that, I played, PING Irons and a Titleist Driver. I so happen to be all Callaway this year. Again, no motives here.

You guys need to relax. Me calling out Scratch has nothing to do with me answering Jose's question to me from the other thread.

I'm recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon. There was no way for me to even make the SLDR Challenge. No frustration here. You guys need to leave all the emotion behind. I'm simply discussing golf.

It's obvious the sugar content in the Kool-aid TM serves has had an effect on peoples brains.

Questions, honest questions have been asked and they can't be answered. Same people show up to

Pretty sad actually.

The trips are meant to do one thing and one thing only.

Sell clubs. They are a marketing machine and very good at it.

I'm glad "I get it."
Oh, it seems you have a "dog" alright.. and your dog doesn't like seeing other people being happy with the results they got. Anywho, can't we all just wait for more of the full write ups before we start passing judgment on everyone and the events?? TM wanted to show that they can help you to drive the ball longer with the SLDR, and they succeeded in doing that. I would think that the entire point of the event is to actually just inform the public of the capabilities of the new low/forward CG clubs, and more precisely, inform the members of WRX. But oooooh no, they're going to sell SOOOOO many clubs since a handful of WRX'ers had a good time, scary huh?
