What's your Ugliest most beautiful par save....

#1 hanicap par 4 at state amateur championship: drove into heather about 30 yards behind a large pine tree. find my ball barely within 5 minutes. i have 173 yards to the flag... cant hook or slice a ball out of heather so i look up to go over the pine because a pitch out would have to be hit backwards and leaves me over 200 in. i picked a 9 iron because it can be elevated and if i get a clean strike on it i can get it near the front of the green. Hit it perfect but came out a little right and hit the top of the pine falling about 30 yards away but past the tree still in the heather. My next shot was from 132... picked it out of the heather but hit the green with zero spin and rolled over the back right of the green after taking the slope hard left to right. I get to my ball and see it is in a hideous lie in the rough that looked like someone had just tomahawked their club and my ball was in their hole. with a perfect nip the best i can do is get my wedge barely under the equator of the ball so i have to play for a half skull chip to even have a prayer. About 35 feet from the flag, i closed down the face of my wedge and hit the half skull chip just hard enough to get the ball over the thick rough but it came out a little hot. Amazingly my ball bounced twice and then checked hard and rolled right into the backdoor of the cup as it took the slope of the green. It died right in the hole so softly that you couldnt even hear the ball hit the stick.

A near disaster that I managed to save par hitting not a single good shot on the hole propelled me to a respectable first round 74. I still dont know how i saved par there

Arnold Palmer was paired up with a gorilla once for a $100 bet.... the trainer was the gorillas caddie.... gorilla went first.... BOOM!!! drove it 500 yds to the green.... Arnold said,"I SURRENDER!!" Paid the $100..... "Just out of curiosity," quipped Arnold,"How does he putt?" Trainer replied,"The same way he drives the ball."

Yesterday, Popped one up off the tee. Stood over my ball with a three wood thinking I could get it there..splash in the water. After my penalty drop I was only concerned about getting on the green, and got lucky to within two feet.

Not a PAR, but rather an eagle on a par 5. This is REAL and happened 24 months ago.

Shot:

1. Driver into a bunker.
2. Cut hybrid from bunker OB - hit someones roof tiles which kicked it back inbounds to the center of our fairway 105y out.
3. 56* wedge hits pin on the fly and drops into the hole...

425 yard home hole at my club. I'd been throwing up all over myself the entire round and I was down about $40. We allow a double or nothing press on 18, but I don't get a stroke and I'm playing really badly, so I decline. My buddy says he'll give me a stroke on a $20 press, so I accept. We both put our drives in the fairway. I hit a 6 iron that bleeds right and goes into the bunker pin high. My buddy is on the green about 40' away, so a par looks pretty likely for him. I get to my ball at it's plugged against the back lip and, at least for me, unplayable. I take my drop on a down slope, so I'm lying 3 with a downhill bunker shot.

I hit a decent shot, but no surprise it comes out low and runs past the flag...up the fairly steep ridge behind the cup...and rolls back 12' into the hole. It's an easy game.

A par save that I remember vividly was actually for a guy I caddied for.
We were on Pacific Dunes #8 and he sliced it all the way to the edge of #7's fairway. I walked off 230 yards or so and handed him a Hybrid.
Over the woods and onto the right side of the green.

Probably a par 3 I made this year. The hole plays about 155. I hit a huge hook with my 8 iron and the ball is heading right into the hazard. I get a kick off the cart path just before the hazard (rock path), the ball flies back towards the green and I end up a couple feet off the green. I flub my chip. The ball just makes it onto the green but catches the slope and I end up making a 6 footer for par.

Par 5 playing just over 500 yards. I pull my drive a little and end up in some sand. When I get to my ball I find this nasty uphill lie with a fairly big lip in front. I choose an 8 iron and hit it really poorly - it makes it out of the sand but just barely and I am still some 240 out. I choose a 3 wood and nail it - right into the greenside bunker; a long bunker shot from the front of this trap to a back pin location.

Now this is during a match-play tourney and we are even up going into this hole which happens to be 17. My opponent is in tight putting for a birdie. If I don't get the next shot in or close I will go into 18 with him being dormie.

I hit the most beautiful sand wedge ever; flew to just behind the hole, bit, and spun back to about 12 inches. He conceded the par. And then he proceeded to miss his birdie putt and netted a par himself. This allowed us to go into 18 all tied up. But that momentum carried over and I won the hole and the match.

To this day every time I see Tim he reminds me of that shot outta the sand.

Couple of my nicest par saves that comes to my mind.

At my home course playing with my club pro in one winter, 205 yard par 3 11th hole with pin on front right with OB just about 30-40 feet from it, pushed my 5 iron just slightly right and kicked off half frozen ground to possibly OB, at that time we didn't know for sure so I re-teed. HIt my 2nd ball then started walking to my cart without looking at my shot, my club pro told me that it went in the hole. But at that time, we weren't sure if my 1st shot was OB or not, drove down and sure enough, it was OB by a inch or two. Nice par there.

Other time, at Highland Springs CC in Springfield, MO where they have Web.com tournament there every year, 8th hole a par 5, I hooked my teeshot OB, then nearly holed out my 2nd ball(4th shot) from about 240 yards out, had a tap in for par. Turned out that it won a skin in my group as everyone went into water on that hole.
