Driving iron help.

So I just responded to another topic...."longest iron in your bag, and hdcp", and it got me to thinking. Halfway through last season, I put my old Mizuno pro II 2 iron back in the bag, as a replacement to a 20* hybrid. It suits my game better, as I hit it waaaay straighter off the tee, and use it primarily as a second driver several times per round on shorter par 4's when I must find the fairway. I love the club, but I'm guessing I could probably get something a bit easier to hit, as I'm not getting any younger, and most likely won't get much better. My game is solid (+\- hdcp), and my driver SS is a comfy 115, with plenty of reserve. I'm 6'2" ish, and a pretty smooth transition, and play project x 6.5 in my irons. The 2iron has an OLD rifle 6.5'shaft.

I like the look of the newer Mizzy fli-hi type iron, and the Bstone AirMuscle from a few years back. What else should I entertain? Thanks.

I have an airmuscle in 21* and it just got kicked out by a DHy. I can play the DHy easier from the fairway if I need to and that was the main reason it kicked the airmuscle out of the bag.

Will watch this with interest, similar handicaps, similar swing speeds and I also play 6.5's in my irons.

Hate my hybrid right now, I avoid hitting it so it's actually just a wasted club in bag.

I do like the look of the 712u and the Ping driving iron but haven't hit either.

After reading a lot of reviews on this site, I went with the Dhy 18*, actually bought it yesterday. It will replace my 17* Anser hybrid. I want something I can hit off of the tee on shorter holes instead of driver. I do not carry a 3 wood anymore. Added a wedge and took the 3 wood out so I like my "hybrid/driving iron" to play long. I also carry a 3 iron I hit 220-225 so I have big gaps at the top but that doesn't bother me much.

I experimented with a Rocketbladez 3 iron (C-Taper) bent to 17* last year and it was pretty awesome. Right now I play a 18* Callaway X Utility with w PXi 6.0 and it's working out really well. I've only had it a few weeks but I've hit it off the tee twice and each time I hit it between 220-230 on soaked fairways. It'll be perfect this summer!

Those with the DHY, what's it like off the deck?

There is one on fleabay that is driving distance from my parents who are flying out to stay with me next Wednesday.

18 degrees, X-stiff for $125 I am tempted to buy it now and ask them to collect it.

I bought mine off the bay for $129 shipped brand spanking from a big seller. They have them listed at $199 with a line through it and says to add to basket with buy it now to see the real price. And hence the $129

I have a 21* and absolutely love it. Great off the deck and off the tee. I take a small divot with any club I use off the deck so I put a pretty stout shaft in my DHy and Super 9031. That really helps keep the face straight at impact for me. I tried one with the stock Matrix X shaft off a mat and it wasn't working for me. However it was about 15 yards longer for me off the tee.
